hi, i got a hair removal wax for my eyebrows/ bikini line.

i tried it just as dirceted and it didn't remove a single hair, it said to put the wax on, press the cloth and to pick up the cloth at once.

i did so and NO results.

what did i do wrong, am i supposed to let the wax "set" and dry a little more? it was warm to touch but not HOT just as the instructions said.

I know it may hurt some but I'm sick of shaving.

please do NOT reply here if you ahve never used any at home waxes and please do not write to suggest something else. I want to know exactly how to use what i already have... and how to use it properly. I'm not trying to be rude or anything but it seems like anytime I ask "how to, how was your experience with..." a bunch of people will simply say "oh i've never used that/never will" and that's NOT much help, m'kay?!

I have to be bikini ready and neat and i can't afford to pay a salon for anything right now. I may possible be amaing a teevee apperance and will be neasr wtaer to this is VERY important, 'kay?!

it sounds to me like you're having trouble bonding the wax to the cloth. you can't just lay the strip on the area, you have to press hard. i like to use my knuckles to make sure i have a really good bond. you should be able to see the wax sticking to the cloth. also, what are you using to prep the area? that could be part of your problem as well. make sure you bond in the same direction that you applied the wax. then you have to hold the skin tightly with your opposite hand. finally, pull the fabric strip hard and really fast, just like you would rip a bandaid off. make sure not to pull up, stay really close to the skin and make sure to pull in the opposite direction than you applied the wax. waxing is a pretty agressive process, so you really need a very firm hand. let me know if this helps. good luck

I got some sally henson wax the other day, the knid where you dont have to use paper or cloth strips.... it didnt work either! I did not go by the directions and used strips of printer paper, and work great! so this what i did i hope this helps....

apply wax in the same direction as the hair, and apply the strip.

press it with your finger and hold it for a few sec.

pull skin taught, and pull in the oppisite direction fast

Have you tried putting baby powder on first? I do that to my brows before I wax them and it works really well. It helps the wax really stick and grab all the hair. HTH.

BTW ~ All I do is put a little in my hand and use a cotton ball like a poder applicator sponge and wipe it and pat a little on the area that you want to remove the hair.

how long are the hairs? If they are not long enough they just won't come off.

Baby powder was a good suggestion as well though, the hair & skin needs to be really dry for the wax to stick. Avoid using body lotion on the area the day you do it, wash and dry the area well then add some talc and then give it another go. Hopefully that will help.

It always helps me if I pull the skin around the wax/ cloth really taut and then pull really fast (as close to the body as possible, like peel up the edge of the cloth and pull it almost parallel to your skin). I've found if I don't pull the skin tight or I don't pull really close to my skin then sometimes the hair doesn't come out as well, if at all.

The main mistake I kept making at first was not pulling the strip fast/hard enough. When you're nervous sometimes its hard to really pull the strip.

Did you try testing the wax on the top of your hand or your arm?

I agree, that's what I do if I start to sweat and the strips won't work if my hand gets it to sweaty. Also I know they mentioned this already, but I have the Sally Hansen cold wax which needs to be "heated" first only NOT in the microwave.
You just press the strip on the hair, and rub your palm over it to heat it up then pull .... FAST.

ah, thanks! everything went well but i was so lousy at waxing i simply gave in and used a razor. i definately will try the powder/talc idea, i did wonder if my skin was too oily for the wax to bond well...but i also made sure i did it a few hours after a bath like the directions said. thx for all these marvy suggestions, i haven't tried again just yet. My hands aren't so steady I may need to break down and pay someone to do it for me...or perhaps even using paper instead of the cloth will help. The set I have has this set of wee soft papers in it it was NOT working. I think I let my hairs grow to 1/4 inch or more, trust me I felt like a wooly creature. I may try going without shaving again and doing the stuff you all suggest.
