I went to get my upper lip waxed and the lady took off part of my skin with it! It burns like hell and looks really red!

This has happened before but only to a small patch of skin and it was hardly noticeable as the skin grows back.

However, this time its a huge patch of skin - the entire skin on my upper lip! I know it will take at least a week to get my skin back to normal.

How do I make my skin grow faster around that area, anyone knows? Can I put something on it that makes it grow faster?

Is there anything I can do with makeup to hide this part of skin, so that I don't have to hide inside my house till it grows back??

Any suggestions please?

OMG.........oh dear that's terrible!!! I don't think you should wax again, maybe just bleach!!

but I'd say vit.E oil/ointment, emu oil, polysporn????

Just in case you aren't aware, do not wax any skin that you apply Retin A, Renova or Stievaa Vit A acid gel. The wax will remove the skin, leaving it burnt and bruised, until it heals.

And if you are on Accutane, it is best to avoid any waxing for the same reasons.

I would treat your skin with ice and polysporin until it heals.

Im soo sorry that happened!!! Do what the other people said, or you could even try aloe vera gel (to soothe the burn).

If you want to keep waxing, i would suggest you go to the top of the line spa. Youll pay extra, but its extra insurance that the waxer is good and wont take your lip off. Maybe you can even tell the waxer that you have had your upper lip area practically taken off, and maybe their is a wax that is for more sensitive skin.?

That is probably why this happened! I use Retin A. I didn't even know that I wasn't supposed to wax the skin that I apply Retin A to! Thanks for letting me know!

lovelyrose - reading your post made me flinch. I'm so sorri u had to go thru that. I agree w/dentaldee

wow, i never knew that , thanx for the info

Hi,

Sorry to hear that this happened to you. I going to add this bit to the quote above stated by CYW1, if you are on Retin A or Renova, you must cease using the product at least 2 weeks prior to any waxing. If you are on Accutane you must cease using the product anywhere from 6 to 9 months. To be honest tho' with the Accutane, I'd wait a year before starting any waxing.

Another thing to think about, did they do an intake; are they using the proper products (pre and post waxing)? Are they double dipping the waxing stick? Was the wax too hot? Truth is some places are not sanitary.

oh burts bees has this stuff callled res-q (its in a green little tin). smells like lavender, it works on everything.

i got my dad and my mom into now they always have at least 2 in the house.

they even got my grandma to try it and she loved it and took some with her back to iran.

you can find it in health food stores.

great advice, dee! i think the vitamin e oil is a great idea. just poke a hole in a capsule and saturate the area.

did the person that waxed you use any type of pre-wax ointment or cream?

my thoughts exactly, leza!

This also happens if you use Differen (ask me how I know.... after using differen for 2 months and enduring the "it makes it worse before it makes it better look" I finally had clear skin. Had my lip waxed right before my SIL wedding and I looked like I had a red mustache no matter how I tried to cover it!) - aloe worked to soothe and emu oil works to heal with scarring. HTH!

Thanks for adding the additional info Leza.

A few years ago I had my brows waxed - looked like I had been punched out from the swelling. It took a few days for the swelling/bruising to go away.

As I age, now 43, I notice I am getting fine, blond hairs on my face.

Every 3-4 weeks, I use an electrical razor to remove remove them.

This way I avoid burning or cutting my skin, and it acts as an exfoliator as well.

And plucking with tweezers does not aggravate my skin at all.

Hope you feel better soon.

i'm so sorry for you !

i can't really give you any advice, but go to your dermatologist if it gets worse.
