My skin is extremely acne-prone, and I've been extremely frustrated with it for the past few years (used to have near-perfect skin when I was a teenager). I have a new breakout every day (not just my T-zone, but ANYWHERE on my face), and I also have a lot of scarring.

1.) Is it ok to use masks when I have breakouts?

2.) If so, what kind of masks should I try, and how often should i use them? Should I use multiple kinds, or just stick with one?

For reference, my skin gets oily very quickly, but at the same time is dry and flaky, which I don't really understand. Also, I don't know if I'd say I only have moderate acne, but I don't think it's extreme either (my face isn't covered in cysts).

Thanks.

yes you can use masks if anything they can help reduce your breakouts. If you have dry skin, you can try collagen masks. The 'pure and radiant' mask from Clarins works great on acne skin. You can also try green tea masks. There really aint no masks out there that you can't use when you have breakouts. Because your skin needs all sort of nutrients. You can use different kinds of masks like I do, I usually use them every other day. I don't have breakouts anymore ever since I did that few months ago and also my acne scars are 90% gone from my face

clay based masks are good for oily skin..i like the refining mask from proactiv, & queen helens mint julip is a fav

I put this in Orangeyecrayon's thread that I'm liking the neutrogena clear pore cleanser mask. I'm sensitive, combination and acne prone and it's been helping to dry up the pimples that try to or actually break through. I do my normal routine and put this over the hot spots overnight and it helps dry them out.

Mask are good but since your skin is a combination. I'd recommend DR.DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE TRIFIX ACNE CLEARING LOTION $32 DGSKINCARE.com Its a lightweight lotion.

It zap zits fast its a triple threat acne fighter

Farnesol[kills acne-causing bacteria]+Willow Bark Extract[peels away dead skin]+Sulfur= THE ULTIMATE ZIT ZAPPER!!

These acne fighting ingredients work together to dry up existing pimples and keep new ones from forming. Apply this lotion all over in the morning and at night after washing your face.

Thanks, I'll check this out. I'm kind of waiting for my Clinique lotion to run out before I buy anything else at that price, even though I still have 2/3 of a huge bottle of it left. (Unfortunately, I don't really like the stuff, but it was something like $36 so I feel like I have to use it up.)

I think masks are a must, i'm a big fan of clay, sometimes i add a drop of lavender essential oil in mine. I try to do a facescrub before, to open the pores.

Right now I'm trying a sulfur therapeutic mask (10% sulfur acne treatment) by DDF (Doctor's Dermatological Formula). It is on the higher end $$. This one is recommended for once a week. I've just begun last week so I don't have much more to add yet...
