Hi all,

Some of you might rememeber me from https://www.makeuptalk.com/t/127433/newbie-at-makeup-any-suggestions

Well, I've went out and purchased the Wet and Wild eye shadow and Olive Oil as makeup remover. The Olive Oil makeup remover is a bit oily after I used it...is that normal? And how should I use it? Also, I don't feel that it cleansed my face well enough. The eyeshadow, on the other hand, is perfect. CHEAP, Pigmented :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Thanks! Also, the Maybelline lash blast is great!  My lashes looked pretty natural (I don't curl them).

I'm looking for a good concealer now, and is thinking about the glamoflauge concealer. If anyone used it before, can you tell me if it's too heavy?

For the foundation, I still haven't gotten it yet since some people suggest that I should use BB cream. I can't seem to find BB cream in the states :/...except if I order from Korean stores online. I haven't gotten my credit card yet, so that's not happening soon. Any good BB cream that I can purchase in the states?

tO be honest, I don't know what girls usually put on their faces...daily...=/ Want to share your routine?

And lastly, do I have to do all the steps for the skin cares once I start wearing makeup? I watch Michelle Phan and she put on, moisturizer, toner, eye cream, sun screen, and etc...o_____o is it really necessary? That's A LOT of steps and I'm double majoring, so it will be hard for me.

THANKS <3...SORRY FOR THE MOST RANDOM QUESTIONS, JUST THINGS I'M STILL IN THE PROCESS OF LEARNING ABOUT...

Olive oil is an oil, it's going to feel oily of course. You need to wash your face afterward to remove the excess oil, I use Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap to wash my face, then I tone and moisturize. The cleansing and toning will get all the makeup off your face after the olive oil has cut through and loosened it.

The Glamoflauge concealer is one of my favorites! It is only heavy if you use an excessive amount, you barely need any to do the job (I mean literally hardly any, a tiny tiny drop is all it takes to cover my major dark circles).

BB Creams here in the US tend to be of lesser quality than Asian ones. It's almost like they can't figure out how to do it right. I suggest looking up some reviews on the Maybelline, L'Oreal, or Garnier BB Creams to see what some opinions of them are. I've seen that they are pretty hit or miss depending on the person.

In my face routine I normally do moisturizer, primer (Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel-$4 at Wal-Mart), foundation, concealer, setting powder, blush, bronzer, highlight. As far as eyes go, I will go elaborate 90% of the time because I'm a model, but on days where I won't be on camera, I simply wear mascara, eyeliner, a light all-over-the-lid shade of eyeshadow (a champagne or taupe), and fill in my brows. For lips, I'm really into tinted lip balm.

I would do the steps to skin care at night when you have time to do them. I suggest toning, moisturizing, and sunscreen in the morning then the full cleansing/moisturizing routine at night.

Nope, not necessary. You could get away with a simple face wash and a moisturizer with SPF, and leave heavier sunscreen for when you're going to be outside for awhile. IMO, eye cream isn't necessary until you're older and/or show signs of wrinkles. I started using eye cream this year and I'm almost 35.

As for makeup, what are your skin concerns? If you have healthy skin with an even tone, you might be able to just dust a little powder or tinted moisturizer, bronzer, and go. I watched a YT video once of this girl's routine and it was ridiculous - concealer, foundation, more concealer, powder, even more concealer, even more powder, seven kinds of bronzer and highlight, blah blah. What made it ridiculous was that she started with a 15 minute windup about how terrible her skin is without makeup, then showed us...and her skin looked exactly the same as with the layers of foundealerpowder she felt she needed. My point is not to be witchy, but just to say that too much can be a waste of your time and the point of makeup is not to waste your time.

Generally my routine looks like this: cleanse, redness relief serum, eye cream, moisturizer, concealer, mineral foundation, light dusting of setting powder, bronze/blush, sometimes just eyeliner and mascara but sometimes I'll do the eyelid primer/shadow/liner/mascara thing too. I only started using concealer when my foundation stopped being enough to cover undereye circles, and I do use face primer sometimes but don't feel the need for it daily. When I'm feeling lazy, I might just put on concealor, powder, bronzer, and mascara. I do either lip balm or lipstick because lip glosses attack my hair.

YT tutorials are great for tips and ideas, but no one's video is a bible of what you NEED to do. All depends on your skin, needs, budget, amount of free time, etc.

Your skincare routine depends entirely on you. You've been living the past 18 years with whatever skincare routine you have now, and there's no need to change it unless you think you could benefit. You can find BB creams on amazon.com (amazon has free student prime membership, you should check that out). If you want something with a little heavier coverage, Maybelline's Fit Me foundation is pretty decent.

I just wash my face nightly with a makeup-removing cleanser, followed by lotion. In the morning, I put lotion on, then sunscreen--or if I feel like it, a tinted moisturizer. The most important thing about wearing makeup is remembering to remove it. If I were you, I would just buy an actual makeup remover--olive oil always leaves a greasy film on my eyes.

Thanks for the replies! I actually don't use anything on my face, except water. That being said, it is very hard for me to know how other girls does their skin routines, since I haven't been doing it for the past 18 years :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I guess I should start caring now since people told me that the older you get, the more you need to care for me. As for my skin tone, I hardly break out and have almost no pimple over the years. =/ That is one of my worries because I don't know if that means my skin is sensitive, and if I should be careful with certain products. As for the foundation, I'm still looking. I've got my eyes on the Revlon Color stay Foundation and the Naked Urban Decay one. But any suggestion will be awesome! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I'm so excited for college haha!
