Types of makeup

I know there are Yellow based make up and Blue based makeup.  How does one tell the difference  in them when purchasing?

Take sample swatches with you one blue and one yellow, hold it up to the product if you see harmony thats the undertone of the product.

If you are buying foundation the colors should be beige, beige gold or gold beige, the only time anyone has a blue undertone they will be so dark you don't need foundation.
