Loads of beauty experts say we don't actually need it

Yeah it also exfoliates, helps moisture hold better and prepares the skin for the next product

gets the last traces of makeup, dirt, oil, etc., but a really good cleanser should do that already.

I heard that after cleansing, your skin takes at least 30 mins to restore its pH levels. So, the toner levels it out real quick, and like ColourMePretty said, gets it ready for the next step/product. Plus, they feel nice and smell good. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I just knew it was to remove all the dirt, oil, etc that the cleanser didnt take out.

I didnt know about the ph level restoration.

Hi,

Interesting fact about toners, isn't it? I also suggest when using them, use one that's alcohol free.

They're really just for removing last traces of cleanser. Personally don't think they do anything if you're cleansing correctly.

We were told at college that cleansing opens the pores and toning closes them, not sure I really believe that though!

Definitely use an alcohol free one - alcohol bad for any skin type!

I was told that it was to remove any left over traces of dirt and also it closes and minimizes pores. I stopped using a toner for a while and did not my pores were larger. I just started back on it and can actually see the difference in the pore size.

Hmm. Interesting.

I like mines from Wet n Wild. Way better than any other ones I've tried.

Leaves skin soft and rehydrated. I always leave this to last to remove anything excess...

I love toner. After I was my face it leaves it clean, and flawless. Then I apply makeup. Toner is great without it the skin looks dry and less light.

I have heard that only really oily skin needs a toner.

My dermatologist thinks they are a waste of money and not necessary for anyone.

When I was a teenager, I use to use toner made by mixing equal parts witch hazel with water.

i have oily skin and they are all too drying ! so i just stick to alcohol free and the toners that have some "powder" in it to keep my face matte and soft

Instead of alcohol should try one w/ witch hazel or vinegar as it's base.

Toner is like a final rinse for your skin.Think of it as washing your clothes in a washing machine...you would never put them in the dryer with out first rinsing them.A cleanser does clean your face, but there will be some dirt and makeup and cleanser left behind.Toner takes care of that and it also closes up your pores, which open when you cleanse. It is the most important and most skipped step in skin care.
