Does anyone have recommendations for a good toner???? My face is fairly dry to begin with and it seems that toners dry it out more. :wassatt:

Aloha

i've tried oil of olay and though it smelled good, it really dried out my skin. i also tried nivea toner and that was much, much milder, but again, dried out my skin. so now i just avoid toners...until i find something that would work for my skin.

hope this helps!

Have you tried ACV toner? It's a DIY - 50% Apple Cider Vinegar and 50% water. There's no alcohol in it, so it might not be as drying for your skin. And, instead of starting out 50/50, start out by mixing 25/75 (ACV/water) ... if you're ok with that, them bump it up each time. Unless someone here who has dry skin can suggest something, you might give ACV a try. In any case, you always want to use a moisturizer after toning. The toner's job is to get the deep-down grime out ... it will ergo be drying to some extent, which is why you need to moisturize right after. HTH

I make my own with witch hazel & rosewater. I have skin thats on the dry side also & it doesnt dry me out at all.

Dove had a great toner with some awesome ingredients as part of their Essential Nutrients line, which is my favorite of all the drugstore stuff, but they discontinued it. I would just look for one with no alcohol. A safe bet would be witch hazel, which is also inexpensive!

I mix half spring water with half apple cider vinegar and swipe it on with a cotton ball. My skin is combo and it isn't too drying at all.

Alba Botanica makes a Sea Kelp facial toner which is more of a hydrating and balancing toner for dry skin. I used this before I started making my own with the ACV and loved it. Your local health food store should carry that brand.

I like the Proactiv toner, However I don't know if it might be too drying for your skin..........I want to look into the ACV toner myself.

A lot of toners are made with alcohol, and I bet that is what is drying your skin. Check the ingredient list and make sure that there's no alcohol next time you try a toner!

I like my witch hazel toner by ****insons. It got it at my local drugstore..and it's extremely gentle. Smells horrid.

I love the NIVEA too! It actually has one for dry skin ( like mine) and it does not dry out my skin ( I'm in shock! loL!). I just started using it and I'm in love! :satisfied:

AM

And let me add that I think all you toner makers out there are crafty awesome!

:clap :sdrop: :icon_smil

Yep, good point!

Another great toner for dry, dehydrated skin is Sweet Red Rose Tonique by Eminence and it's alcohol free.

You might want to try pure rosewater (hydrosol) or DHC Soothing Lotion. Both are gentle and soothing, but the DHC toner has a little glycolic acid for gentle exfoliation.

Good luck!

I have tried all sorts of toners in the past until I learnt from the ladies of this forum about ACV toner. My skin really feels much healthier since.

This is just odd......I replied to this tried on friday and I even got an email saying someone had replied to my post...........but now it has disappeared :icon_scratch: Any idea what happened?

Ahhh! I just spotted the thread about the lost posts.

Anyway I was recommending Clinique Clarifying Lotion. I use No. 2, but if you have very dry skin you should probably use the Mild version, the Clinique sales person will tell you which is best for you. I have used both as have very dry skin around my eyes, but I find No. 2 the best. Your face actually tingles....in a good way after using it. And the dirt that comes off on the cotton wool is phenominal! :scream3:

Hi,

Ditto on the Multi Active Toner from Dermalogica. It's a great hydrating toner that does not contain SD alcohol.
