Plain soap along with proper hand washing is sufficient. Its the amount of friction you use. One trick I learned in nursing school was to sing "happy birthday" in your head and that is the amount of time....at a minimum....to wash your hands.
We have anti-bacterialed and antibioticed ourselves into a "superbug" society. the staff infection is not what it used to be and the reason is overuse of the above. taking antibiotics for colds when they dont work on viruses and everything is antibacterial now. Bacteria is becoming immune to the agents we use.
it really is ok to use plain old soap and water. Just remember, again that it is the quality of the hand washing that is most important.
