I have a mole on my cheek almost to my ear. it grows black hair! The only black that grows on my entire face! Well except when my roots grow out compared to the blonde it looks dark! lol! Anyways I pluck and pluck and I'm loosing my mind!

I hate the thought of hanging out with Dh and having a black hair standingout and ruining my entire cutie look. Grrr mole hair! lol! See what I mean TMI! lol!

Anyone have tips...should I get it removed? I'm worried my insurance woen't coverit because it's not "needed"...cosmetic is what it's called I think.

Anyway I had to share! lol! Thanks for any advise or tips!

How about having the hair lasered off? Like you would with chin or lip fuzz?

You're funny! I don't think it's TMI at all.

I would try Marisol's idea or have it removed if it bothers you.

That's not to much info!

I learned in skincare class that one should never pluck hairs that grow from moles, because you annoy the cells around the hair roots, which again can lead to mole cancer. You should either cut the hair, or have it removed with electrolysis.

If you use electrolysis you'll never have to worry about the hairs stirring up your cutie look

Yeah - removal would be the best way to make it stress free. It can get expenisive though!

Good luck though

You should get it removed. If you have it removed at a hospital they will send it for biopsy by a pathologist who is likely to say that it was medically necessary (i.e. potentially a melanoma). I say this because (warning: TMI) I had a huge mole in my armpit that I had removed. If it is large enough in diameter and it is raised from the surface of your skin, they will have it biopsied.

i don't think it's TMI...we can safely say that this is nothing compared to what we all read about in the sex forum! LOL

but yeah, i like marisol's idea about removing the hair by laser.

Definitely not TMI!!! You're so silly! We'd love you anyway *lol* I agree w/ everyone about having it removed. At least talk to a Dermatologist. If they do a biopsy and feel it needs to be removed, wouldn't your insurance pay for it then? Best of luck darlin'!

well if it was me and it bothered me I think I would just get it removedand be done with it...

I am affraid laser hair removal wouldnt work, unless they modernized technique and I dont know about it. But last time I read about laser technique, it said it works best on light, untanned skin (without much pigment) and dark hair. since moles have a lot of pigment, I am not sure if this would work.

I would suggest having the mole removed, ask dermatologist if it would be possible and safe. and dont worry about too much information, it is very common problem and many people wonder what to do about those kind of hairs. I have mole like this on my hand and I used to pluck the hair out... but now I feel guilty and Im thinking maybe I should have it removed

Bingo. That's the way to do it. Not that I'm into insurance fraud....

But, that is the way insurance will cover it.

I went to the derm to have a mole removed. I told her it sometimes hurt and she removed it free of charge! If you tell them it has changed in size or color they will remove it for free.

When I was younger, I would constantly have to go to the hospital to get moles removed. Because my dad had almost fatal melanoma. Any sign of my moles growing or changing colours, it was off to the hospital, and get it cut out and biopsyed.

So, my point being, if you dont think it would be covered, go to your doctors and tell him it has been getting bigger. He will immediatly scheduale you a visit to the hospital to get it removed and biopsy it.

If and when you do get it removed, there will be a scar, and depending on how big it is, possibly even stitches. I had a few that were have the size of the end of my pinky finger that needed 1 stitch. If it is on your face, I'm sure they will be extra careful. Just talk to your doctor about a good scar healing cream.

Hope I have helped, and not changed your mind about getting it done.

Well if it is bothering you cosmetically, I think you should have a dermatologist remove it. It can be done in the office... If your doc justifies the procedure, for instance, if he thinks the mole should be sent to pathology to rule out melanoma, then it is quite likely that insurance will cover.
