Those Knotted Hair Ties

Please forgive me if this is a weird question, but can someone(s) please explain the knotted hair tie thing to me? Are they used differently than regular hair ties? Or is there some benefit?

I know a lot of people like glue and metal free, but I have store-bought ones that are also glue and metal free from Scunci called No Damage hair elastics. These come in a pack of 12 and they are kind of like rolled pantyhose, I guess. No glue and no metal.

At first I thought this was just a DIY craze or an Etsy thing, but then I saw them for sale on Hautelook yesterday. And they are cute with all the different colors and such, I was just wondering if there is something else that I am missing.

I wish I knew the answer. I hate them cause they can't hold my hair at all

For me, they are the only kind that doesn't get alll tangled and ratted in my hair and end up ripping it out. They are less likely to leave a crease for me too. Those are the best benefits I know of. Of course, ymmv.
