I really dont use much of tnning lotions but i want to buy it for the summer...i want to get tan since im so pale...so i was looking at the banana boat lotions and there is only spf 4 and up there isnt any 3 or 2 which is weird...but there is NO spf but im afaid of the no spf i dont want to cause anything bad to my skin so my question is... will SPF 4 still give me a tan?

I'm pretty sure spf 4 will give you a tan, but I can tan even with spf 30 so I'm not much help.

It depends on many factors such as, 1) how strong the sun is that day, 2) whether or not you're tanning at the sun's peak hours. If you want to be properly protected, then SPF 4 is deifinitely not sufficient.

When I'm at the beach, I tan even though I'm wearing a sunscreen of SPF 30 +.

The banana boat dark tanning lotions are pretty good. I actualy tan in beds, but before that when i went camping i'd always use those.

important fact though, your first time tanning of the year, you have no tolerance yet, so0o an spf 4 doesnt garentee you wont get burnt! later on in the summer when you get some color, the spf will be plenty! you can tan even with an spf 45, so0o be careful out there (haha comming form someone who tans in beds)

I have pale skin too and people tell me they would "die for pale skin", so maybe pale is the new tan. It changes all the time and my mind can't keep up with it!

i dont use anything. im starting to realize the severety of the situation though. i actually used 2 lotions one summer. i used a sport spray on sunblock that was spf 30 i think then i used a tanning lotion over it. it was all spray on no rubbing it in. i tanned pretty good that time. but then again i spent a total of 3 hours in the sun this weekend and i look like i just got back from hawaii. i tan like crazy. but of you wanna use tanning oil try using a sport block underneath that stays on even when you sweat so the tanning oil doesnt take it off.

You WILL tan with the SPF 4, I suggest SPF15. I'm pale too, so I understand you want the best tan possible. Make sure you bring something better for your face, neutragena has great sun block for your face that aren't oily.
