Hi gals,
It's so tough to find what "really" works, so I wanted to share. About 4 months ago I developed what I think was a boil on my leg about 4" above the knee. It didn't 'hurt' per se, except when I pressed on it, but it was a hard bump, about 1/4" high, and would go days at a time being angry red. It was ugly. A few times I tried piercing the top with a sterilized need to see if I could pop it or whatever, but nothing, even with intensive squeezing.
The third week of Jan my g/f was down vacationing and got me into this whole skin care/beautification process, which I'm now head over pocketbook in - lol. Anyway, in doing research on various items, I read in a number of places about Tamanu Oil being, among many other things, very good for boils and cysts. Hmmmm, ok, I bought some - inexpensive enough and what the heck. Now remember, I had already pierced this boil (or whatever it was) with a needle a few times and never got anything but a drop or two of watery blood stuff out of it.
When it arrived, I put it on the spot twice a day for two days. Patience not being my strongsuit, on the third night I pierced the top with a needle and applied the oil. The next night I re-pierced it and again applied the oil. On the third day, guess what? There was an eight-inch diameter "head" forming. I pierced it and applied more Tamanu and the next morning that "head" area (best I can describe it) was pushed up just a tad above the rest of the skin. So I took the needle and stuck it in the side and pulled out about a 3/8-1/2" string of this cottage cheese looking stuff - EWWWW, but amazing! I kept applying Tamanu and about 4 days later some more of that stuff came out, but only about 1/8" long piece.
It's now been an additional 3-4 days and that spot is flat now (YIPPEE) and only some pinkness remains. I suspect even that will be gone in another few days or so. I'll be testing its healing properties on oyster shell scratches this weekend when I go kayaking in the flats - the little buggers just jump up and scratch you.
I got my oil from here, but there are many sites that carry it. I just happen to be a Hutton fan.
I don't want to barage you with sites, but here's a Botanical Society page on Tamanu Oil
My experience certainly sold me on its properites.
Kathy
