Hey all!

So, I was doing the math of several Urban Decay Palettes and I have to say that I think that the new palettes are way over priced. Click here to see them.

Anyway, they have 1 case, 6 shadows a piece plus a mini gloss for $36 or $4.50 a piece. But if you look at the Naked 2 palette you get 1 case, 14 shadows, 1 full size brush and a mini gloss for $50 or $2.94 a piece

You don't get a brush with any of the new palettes that I am aware of either which kinda sucks in my opinion.

I can't be the only one that thinks this is a total rip off right?

Does anyone know how they decide to price their products?

I think it is a WAY better deal to buy the Book of Shadows Series to get more colorful shadows plus you get extras.

And while I am at it... having the Smoked Palette right at $49 online when free shipping is at $50... is annoying if you only want that one thing.

Sorry, if this was all posted somewhere else. I looked around but couldn't find anything about it.

Considering that one shadow is $18, $4.50 is actually really good. It's like getting 6 shadows for the price of 2.

Yeah, but they are only $18 because that is what they are pricing them as singles. Since they are all a lot cheaper in a palette they CAN and DO sell them for less in palettes but not in singles. That is a rip off. I am just saying that their palettes used to be really amazing with liners, brushes, gloss and primer along with the shadows and now they are piddly but still around the same price.

I understand what you're saying, but it's not really a rip off unless you purchase the items. You're free to leave them at the store, lol.

I still think they're a good value, but I just can't justify the colors enough to NEED them. I like the feminine palette or whatever, but I just have too many similar colors. But I do agree that in the past they had more add ons with them, making me feel a bit better about the purchase.

:) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I am such a sucker for nice packaging though. I love all the Urban Decay packaging. I just wish it came with more stuff to call it a palette.

Are these the same colors as the feminine, dangerous and fun palettes that were just clearanced out?  I know that they're probably Urban Decay's new eyeshadow formulas but I have two of the other palettes that I got on sale and was wondering if anyone saw a difference.

The thing I like about Urban Decay palettes is that they get me outside of my comfort zone.  The combination of colors makes me create different looks and gives me other colors to play with that I most likely would not have purchased as single shadows.  I do like the new packaging as well, it seems like it would last longer and get less dinged up in my purse than the previous cardboard palettes.  I have so many Urban Decay products that I still need to play with so I always end up buying when they're on sale or on Hautelook, I don't buy at full price usually.  Except in the case of Naked 2, that was worth every penny.  I'm actually down to pan on one color!  They've spoiled me with their great sales, it's not that I don't think that their products are worth full price, it's just that I love getting them on sale and can wait.  I want to play with my Book of Shadows 4 that I've had for a while now but it is broken.  The drawer with the shadows is hopelessly stuck.  Hopefully they'll fix that design for their next Book of Shadows.  I wish I would have gotten the Alice in Wonderland palette and the 15th anniversary palette but I didn't.  Thinking about Urban Decay's palettes makes me want to go play with my shadows now.   I just bought an on sale Skull palette and gave it away to someone who didn't have any UD products and was wanting to try them.  I might get another for myself and the Black palette on sale is calling my name too . . . no! Must be strong - need to stop spending money on shadows . . . but the lure of a sale is so, I don't know, alluring, I guess!

Are these the same colors as the feminine, dangerous and fun palettes that were just clearanced out? They are as far as I know.

I do like the new packaging as well, it seems like it would last longer and get less dinged up in my purse than the previous cardboard palettes.  I agree! If you have looked at the Midnight Emergency one I loved that one cause it had various items in it and the cool packaging. I got that when it was on sale too.

I have so many Urban Decay products that I still need to play with so I always end up buying when they're on sale or on Hautelook, I don't buy at full price usually. Have you checked out allcosmeticswholesale.com? They have authentic UD palettes (as well as a million other brands) that are real and always on sale until they are gone.

Except in the case of Naked 2, that was worth every penny. I bought Naked and Naked 2 full price and that was it. Both came from Sephora with a bunch of samples and extras from the 15 day new website thing they were doing.

I want to play with my Book of Shadows 4 that I've had for a while now but it is broken. Totally agree! I depotted that palette, the Juju palette and Midnight Emergency turned my BYOP into a magnetic one and put all the shadows in one palette! But I still have the packaging cause I do makeup videos all the time and use them as props in the background. :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I wish I would have gotten the Alice in Wonderland palette and the 15th anniversary palette but I didn't. I wish I had gotten the AIW one too! I tried finding it on ebay and such and it is so damn expensive now. It is crazy! They should bring it back again.

Thinking about Urban Decay's palettes makes me want to go play with my shadows now.   I just bought an on sale Skull palette and gave it away to someone who didn't have any UD products and was wanting to try them.

You are so nice! I did that with my little cousin. She is just getting into makeup now at age 14 and I totally ransacked my huge makeup collection for new stuff I never use for her. She got an Mariposa Palette among other things. I offered her a Naked and Naked 2 Palette cause I bought 2 of each (the extra ones for backup and to do makeup on others) but I never used them and she didn't want them! I was stunned! But she didn't like the names of them. And said they would embarrass her at school. lol! I finally donated them to a woman's shelter here in Seattle.

I might get another for myself and the Black palette on sale is calling my name too . . . no! Must be strong - need to stop spending money on shadows . . . but the lure of a sale is so, I don't know, alluring, I guess! I just found out I am getting more than enough finacial aid back from the university to pay for books and such and I think some of the UD stuff is going to be coming my way! :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
