Is there anything at all I can do? (besides stop using them) I have been sweating on my face like crazy this summer and i think it's all because of high SPF and PPD sunscreens...I can't even wear any foundations because of that and it look horrific, all sweaty and red (my skin is also very sensitive).

I have sensitive skin too!, my face always looks slighty oily in the summer. When I put sunscreen on it looks greasier

. I don't know what to do either, hope theres some answers! x

Hopefully, someone here will be able to help you, but I know the

sunscreen squad

(at Makeup Alley) would overwhelm you with replies. Those ladies are forever talking about sunscreen.

Maybe you should try using moisturizer with sunscreen in it. I am currently using Biotherm aqua source with spf15 and it doesn't make me oily. I tend to get oily in the summer as well. Hope this helps.

I used to have similar problems but now after a year of using these creams I feel like my skin (or me) got used to them, it seems to absorb stuff better. how long you have been using high spf and ppd creams? what do you put on them?

A s/s like Clinique Super City Block SPF 25 would probably feel less greasy. It is not the highest blocking s/s out there, but if you have sensitive skin, your options become limited. Also, going to the pharmacist & having him mix up a resorcinal liquid for you to apply before you put on s/s & mu would probably help a great deal. It's a liquid that looks pinkish & the resorcinal separates from the water. You shake it to mix it up & then apply with a cotton ball. It will go a long way towards controlling oil. You should not need a prescription to get this.

if it is making your face red, you might be allergic to something in it, i would defnitely talk to a pharmicist or a dermotologist.

It's been at least a year with high SPF and few years woth up to 25. I hope it gets better cause it's driving me crazy

The redness is a result of heat more than sunscreen, unfortunately, but puttingsunscreen or red, retinoid peeled skin it does hurt sometimes a lot.

Unfortunately resorcinol is not available here

but thank you a lot for suggestion.

Some foundations have sunscreen in them, so maybe try for those. Prescriptives has some foundations with SPF 15 (like Virtual Matte and Flawless Skin).

Polona, what kind of high spf creams did you use? did you try the lighter versions, like liquids (fluides) and emulsions?

I am using Bioderma Photoderm Max Fluide 50+, I am not sure if it is in Slovenia, but most likely yes, cause I bought it in Poland, I assume they have similar stuff... I also heard raves about Avene emulsion tres haute protection 50+. I didn't try it yet, but I have a tube stocked up, I will use it after my Bioderma finishes.

If you cannot put foundation over on the hot days you could try the tinted versions. I heard mixed reviews about them, but it's worth a try. My friend uses Bioderma Flush right now (tinted version) and she likes it even though her skin is very fair. she says it covers up the vessels on her face pretty well.

also, try to use lighter creams for the days when you stay home (with lower spf). I don't know what else to tell you

I think I just get used to the greasy layer on my face
wink.gif
cause I always think it is better than tan, wrinkles and discoloration (i dont have anything against tan, but I dont like it on myself, I love my face pale). I just put a lot of powder to kill the shine and I forget about my face. if it is really shiny in the middle of the day I will use a blotting paper, but I try to avoid it when the sun is still up. when the sun is gone, I usually use many blotting papers to give my face some rest from the cream.

I am using exactly those-bioderma(old version 100) and avene and also La roche posay 40(only avene available here, others were gift from Ania). She is also getting me new 50+ bioderma ones and tinted one from SVR now that she is in Poland.Yeah,I know what you mean!I would like some tan,but can't afford it right now, with all the Zorac I am using and Retin A, I wish selftanneers would work on me. Besides sweating,my main problem is pale skin,my favorite foundation for oily days Colorstay Lite is 2 shades 2 dark for me,last year it was only one,so I could still use it... Ah,I hate Slovenia,I should move to Asia with all the fair shades there

Thank you so much for your advice!

Polona, I think your fair skin is beautiful and it suits you very well
smile.gif
try some fair bronzing powder, maybe terracota for blondes (limited edition I think), or benefit dallas. and be patient with your sunscreen

Hopefully one day they will invent formulas that are completely non greasy and not heavy
smile.gif
p.s. did you try vichy ecran fluide for face? it is quite light too.

Try the Wal-mart cheapie stuff.. Equate oil-free spf 30.. I just tried it, and it feels like a moisturizer.. and then, if your skin can handle it, maybe get some powder foundation, instead of a slippery cream. And embrace the pale!!! It was hot back in the Hollywood Glamour days, and us pale people need to stick together and bring it back!
