Battling Dry SkinIf your skin is tight or scaly, and you're looking for something to improve its condition, try supplementing with sources of essential fatty acid. Evening primrose oil, black currant oil and borage oil are all good sources of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid), which promotes healthy growth of skin, hair and nails. Of the three oils, black currant oil (in doses of 500 mg twice a day) is the most economical remedy for dry skin conditions. You won't see immediate results from this treatment, but in six to eight weeks you'll begin to notice positive changes.

Coming Wednesday I'm gonna buy these oils and see how it goes. Ever since we moved we now have city water and it's wreaking havoc on my skin. I'll keep everyone posted when or if I see results.

Also, if anyone else is using these oils please be sure to let us know what your experience was/is. Thanks in advance!

Changing water for even a week messes me up too.... so I'd you can be the "guniea pig", Johnnie! lol

Evening of Primrose oil is really good for regulating female hormones. A lot of ladies who don't want to use hormonal birth control but want to prevent hormonal acne and other PMS symptoms take Evening of Primrose.

I use them directly on my skin. I've never taken any of them internally before. Evening primrose makes a very good moisturizer especially mixed with jojoba oil. Put it on before stepping out of the shower and it leaves your skin super silky without being greasy.

divadoll - it's definitely a great idea to add a little bit of jojoba oil to your moisturizer

Adding jojoba oil to ANY moisturizer makes your skin EXTRA moisturized

Grapeseed oil, candlenut oil, and almond oil are also all great natural moisturizing oils. Grapeseed oil has natural antioxidants in it too and almond oil also gives your skin that natural glow. I actually tried a product recently with candlenut oil in it - Juara Candlenut body cream (juaraskincare.com) - I tend to have dry, skin and this really has been helping so candlenut oil must really work!

I take supplements with wild yam /dioscorea/, it is a natural hormonal regulator. The other supplements that work good for me are spirulina and natural fish collagen.

I take MSM, fish oil and lots of water. I have hyper dry skin and really notice a difference when I run out.

i've concluded that my super dry skin comes from the weather where i live.

cause when i went back to my hometown for a holiday. ma skin was envied. in a week, it was restored and looking good.

came back, and now i have the same dry skin again.

my advice is to just drink lots of water, juice.
