I am a self confessed hair dye addict and my hair has been through many colourful transitions in the past 5 years being at university! I am now back to a normal colour - close to my natural colour while I give it some well deserved TLC.

My hair is just past shoulder length currently and doesn't style very well unless I use lots of revitalizing products before hand. Before I started dying it so much it was very "heavy"  feeling and would fall about in a healthy way when out, now it's just stiff and brittle when I wake up of a morning.

I have been suggested to use Argan oil but is this any good? I'd love to know some techniques to aid my hair to repair itself to be healthy again. I'd especially love some hair product suggestions, conditioning and foods to eat to help with hair.

Thanks :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Get a trim. If your hair has a straw-like texture with split ends, the first thing you can do to restore its health is go to the salon and get a trim.
Stop using heat. Now that your hair is freshly cut, plan to treat it very gently until its health is restored.
Stop dying or otherwise processing your hair.
Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.
Use natural styling products.
Treat your hair with oil.
Don't wash your hair too often.

As always yes cutting your hair is best to get rid of the dead, but if your like me chopping all your hair off isn't an option. The best thing to do is to get product that help you build back protein, the best product that I recommend is extreme anti snap it is a treatment leave in conditioner. Also the Redken extreme shampoo and conditioner are very helpful. ( If you are unable to purchase hight end brands then look for the "damaged" type shampoo and conditioner it will not work as well or as fast but its still a start) Depending how bad your hair is it will start to get stronger and healthier. Now what you have to watch out for is having too much protein, this won't happen right away we are talking months here, but eventually you will start to notice you hair looking like it is brittle again, thats because there is too much protein in it now. Now is the time to switch to a moisture shampoo and conditioner, I've found that the salon moisture lines don't do much more that drugstore does, so I like loreal advanced moisture and garner fruitis hydro punch as well. Also if you can find a mask those also speed things up a bit. I know it sounds like a lot but if you follow this I guarantee it will get better, this is the regimend that I tell all my clients when they ask how to get their hair healither. Also make sure you use a heat protectant when styling you hair!! Very important.
