Hi, I've got really curly hair (people have described it as Shirley Temple type curls) and I've had it all my life. Recently, a friend gave my a ceramic striaghtener as a present because she had noticed I had always longed for striaght hair but never did anything about it. She taught me how to use it, but when I do, it curls very quickly. She told me that overtime, if I straightened in frequently, it would become less resistant to the power of the iron. Is this true? If not, is there anyway to keep it straight, at least throughout the day? (no suggestions to chemcial straighteners please, I'm a bit wary of them)

I've never heard of that, only that it damages hair. I think if we're going to "shed" our hair anyways, the new hairs won't know about the straigntener, ehehe. Sorry I don't know about that, I have very straight hair and I wish I had your curls.

I do believe there is some truth in it? Do u use a heat protectant? I find that using healthy sexy hair shampoo and conditioner and deep conditioner, somehow helps my hair become easier to straighten

Maybe using a straightening shampoo and conditioner (StraightSexyHair) might help. Definitely use a heat protectant. Also, a straigtening balm should help. However, I don't know how much easier your hair will be to straighten the longer you do it. I've been straightening my hair for years with relaxers, as well as straightening irons, and it still tends to be resistant at times.

I don't know about your hair losing resistance, but it is true that if you straighten it several times a week, your hair could lose curl due to the damage. So I would use definitely use a heat protectant spray before using the flat iron. Good luck.
