Alright, so my hair has been less than debonair lately... it's a big fuzzy staticy mess that gets caught in seatbelts complete with the horrendous crackling sound of static shock.

What can I do about this problem? It seems way worse when I brush (with any of my brushes) and in certain areas (like in my car).

I thought it would just tone down after awhile, but no... it's just gotten much worse.

It's been this way for months.

Someone told me to rub a dryer sheet on my hair and hairbrush, so I did. It did absolutely nothing.

Have any of you had this problem before? Any ideas of fixing it? This is the worst it's ever been...

Spray a few spritzes of leave in condition on your hair before getting into your car....in your car specifically its caused by friction.

I'm not sure what a good leave-in conditioner would be. Do you usually use one? I've never even used one before, lol...
Do you recommend any?

Check your clothes to see if they are made out of cotton or wool. In some people, myself included, they tend to produce a lot of static on our bodies and especially during the cold seasons. My body is very staticcy but when I wear anything with cotton in them, the shocks I get just drive me nuts. Not to mention it demagnifies any card I have that such as credit cards, door keys etc.

i think hair ego has some suggestions (i ahve not tried the KMS leave in spray but i love all there stuff)

Also just keep in mind that the air is usually drier in the winter (cold air can not hold as much moisture) and dry air does increase the ease with which electricity can flow through said air.

I have this problem. I have long hair and shock myself a lot in the winter. To control it don't wear any fleecey clothing. Before you go out mist John Frieda Frizz Ease Nouishment Leave in spray on a brush (I use a round brush), it will keep static at bay for a few hours. Remist it when you you feel like it's coming back.

This isn't really the solution to your problem, but it will defiantly help. When my hair gets staticy I rub some hand lotion on my hands, and then just run my hands through my hair when there is a bit left. Not so much it's goopy, but just a little bit. It works out great!

When my hair gets a lot of static, I rub it all over with a dryer sheet.

It may sound crazy, but it works like a charm.

a spritz of hairspray onto the brush before brushing should calm it down a bit.
