So I'ver never been a fan of toners and never really used it because I always go for the wrong ones (clean n clear = alcohol) But after watching a couple youtube videos on skincare regimens I decided I want to use a toner for no reason! So I'm going the natural way and I plan to use apple cidar vinegar toner in the evening (because my brand of ACV smells A LOT lol) and witch hazel in the morning.

But my question is, the witch hazel seems to be a cleaning astringent, do you think it will affect my makeup especially if I apply my mmu wet which might redistribute the witch hazel off my skin and spread it around? And does it need to be diluted (does it have drying properties or anything I should be aware of?)

I always give my toner time to evaporate. Usually about 5 minutes before I apply anything else so it's not going to go anywhere after that. Hopefully someone else can answer you about diluting the Witch Hazel. My daughter uses it as an astringent and she does not dilute.

I use witch hazel as an astringent on a daily basis. The nice thing about witch hazel is that is not drying at all to the skin, it's very gentle. In fact sometimes I think I need to use something stronger because if I don't feel a "tingle" I just don't feel like it's doing anything but that's probably not the best line of thinking. Anyway...to answer your last question no it doesn't need to be diluted. It's also pretty cheap. Let us know how you like it.

So I used witch hazel this morning (I also added some to my ACV toner) and gahh do I hate the smell of it, it doesn't seem like something I"ll get use to either (I choose ACV smell over this anytime) lol but it's good for me so I'm gonna keep using it, I just gotta breathe out of my mouth and apply moisturizer right after. I don't have much time in the morning so I never really get the extra 5-10 min for layers to dry, they eventually blend together lol. My makeup seems fine right now, I just hope it does 'break up'.

Sometimes I use Witch Hazel and I have dry skin and I've never had a problem with it being drying. The smell doesn't really bother me either. Guess it depends on the person.

I had a couple of little break outs these past two days.. but that's mgiht be because I'm somwhat stressed with exams or the toners really cleaning and extracting all the gunk out. OR it could simply be that my skin can't take it lol, but I'm giving it two weeks to see if it will calm down before I draw any conclusions.

It's interesting because a few days ago, I abandoned my usual practice of putting on toner and I haven't had any new break outs since. I always had at least one pimple on my forehead or around my chin area one after another in the last year or so.

my face is breaking out.... i don't know what's causing it and I feel discouraged and I want to stop using the apple cidar toner but it's suppose to be really good for the skin and it's suppose to stop acne because it restores the skin's acidity. it's a 50/50 solution and there's no redenss or anything so i don't think the breakouts are due to the acid.

Just because it's supposed to be good for skin and acne, doesn't mean it's good for your skin... I tried apple cider toner as well. It didn't work well for me.

What works for others may not work for you, so if you keep breaking out after a few weeks, and the Witch Hazel is the only thing that you really altered in your makeup routine, I would give it up and go for something else.

I found that Witch Hazel does work for me, and I actually prefer it to any other toner. You don't really have to dilute it, unless you are very sensitive.
