I am looking for a daily moisturizer with spf for extremely sensative, dry skin. I did the skin type solution test and she recommends aveeno ultra-calming daily moisturizer spf 15 - Active Ingredients: Avobenzone 2%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Octisalate 5%

This stuff broke me out really really bad. I have always broke out with sunscreen and using it everyday has given me a bad rash on my neck. So I definetly have to stop. But everything else out there has the same active ingredients.

And I also have wrinkled and pigmented skin so I have to limit my sun exposure (which I have NEVER done). Should I forgo the spf and just count on the spf in my BE Bare Minerals foundation? Or does anyone out there know of a good moisturizer for dry, sensitive skin that doesn't have the above ingredients in it?

Most spf products contain irretants that aggrevate sensitive skin, try a baby spf line or I would try a regular moisturizer and go with the minerial foundation. We just came out with one that is spf 15 and I was asking around and someone said most of them are.

EDIT:ANN HAS TYPOS BAD TODAY!

I also just check our and it is known as one of the best used on sensitive skin and it even has the octinoxane in it.

I have dry skin and I use Olay Complete Moisture with SPF 15. It has worked well for me so far. It doesn't break me out...it is non-comodeogenic, so it doesn't clog the pores. I don't know the ingredients in it though.

I'm probably going to have to stick to no spf except for my mineral foundation. Its not breaking me out like pimples but like a rash - it sucks.

I guess I'm going to have to wear make up every day. I usually only wear it on work days.

You might want to give one of the chemical free sun screens a shot. I think Kiss My Face (sold in health food stores) has a chemical free moisturizer. Good luck!

I use BE as well, and unless you are putting it on VERY VERY heavily, and on your neck and upper chest as well, it probably is NOT enough protection. I really liked the Aveeno, I wonder exactly what it is that you are reacting to in it. Maybe it's the avobenzone.

Right now I'm using Eucerin Sensitive Skin Extra Protective SPF 30 (both uva/uvb protection) active ingredients are:

Octocrylene, Octinoxate, Zinc oxide, Titanium dioxide, Ensulizote

The other ingredients are pretty standard for a moisturizer- water, glycerin, dimethicone, cetyl alcohol etc.

The Eucerin has not caused any blocked pores or breakouts for me. And it IS for sensitive skin.

My last suggestion would be Dove skincare-I've been reading some great non-biased reviews about their ingredients and for the price Dove is considered better than average, with anti-oxidants and other ingredients that are better than what high end brands use. Dove has spf products, I've been using the night cream with great results so I'll be trying the day cream spf 15 as soon as my Eucerin runs out.

Good luck

thanks Jen. I'll try the Eucerin and check the ingredients in the Dove. Hopefully its only one of the ingredients and not all of them.

i have VERY OILY and acne prone skin,,,

olay's complete has NOT made me break out yet...it doesn't feel greesy and i've spent years trying to find a good SPF moisturizer :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hey that chemical free sounds good...I did not know they had a sunscreen...I am going to check it out too, Thanks!

I suggest you try an Oil-free SPF. I think ity's the oil in these products thats is breaking you out. Try something like Thomas Roth's oil free SPF 30...

I don't know Pieced. I'm allergic to everything. Laundry detergent, fabric softener, most makeup (oil-free, non-comodeogenic, whatever). I have to use organic, fragrance free soy detergent to not break out in a rash when I wash my clothes. I don't think its an oil thing - I think its more of a rash/allergy thing.

This stuff actually BURNED when I tried it....so I'm super sensitive to SPF's as well. I have tried many. The only thing so far that works is the SPF in my foundations. I have NOT yet tried the baby SPF's yet....cuz they are like 50 spf and I'd atleast like a little sun look.

I have yet to go back to oil of olay (use to use it)....I should try it again, I remember it didn't bother me, but I never used the one with SPF in it.

its weird - it didn't really bother my face - just made it a little itchy but my neck got really red and splotchy. Almost hive like. I picked up some Neutrogena sunscreen with titanium oxide and no chemical sunscreens and used it this morning. No itchy splotchiness but it didn't all absorb and my face had a white sheen to it. Not really attractive. Grrrr. I've never worn sunscreen regularly before but I'm really trying to prevent wrinkles. :eusa_wall:

That weird, I thing you should see a dermatologist, and maybe she/he can suggest an over the counter SPF...

I am a dry, sensitive, pigmented and wrinkled and I am having the same issue. The physical sunblocks are a bit better for me. You should try to get a sample of Dr. Haushaka (I know I spelled this wrong) spf 20 sunblock and Clinique spf 25 super city block and see if they work for you. The Dr. H is whiteish but it sinks in after 15 mins and the Clinique is tinted and looks great on.

ITHINK YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT PAULA BEGOUN'S SITE WWW.COSMETICSCOP.COM SHE GIVES GREAT ADVISE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN AND SHE ALSO HAS HER OWN SKINCARE LINE WITH SOME GREAT UVA/UVB MOISTURISERS. I HOPE THAT THIS WILL HELP. GOOD LUCK.

My skin hates chemical sunscreens in any term - avobenzone, octicilate, salicilate, etc etc etc.. shows tantrums in form of rashes, itchiness, swell etc etc etc.

Now I'm using Clinique City Block SPF 25 and my skin has been behaving well ever since. But physical or mineral sunscreen is not absorbed into the skin - it leaves a film on it or a white cast. Choose a tinted version to mask the white cast.
