What are some of the things/techniques spas use that you can try or buy on your own?

Manicure, Pedicures, Massage, Makeup, everything!

I bought the stainless steel callus shaver off of Ebay that they use at most pedicure shops, and I love it!

you can also get a pumice stone which is great to remove dead skin from your heels (if this brand is available, Scholl makes one i love). also go for black soap, which is used in oriental spas, clays.

Id get a facial steamer ( also great when you have a cold) and the hot rocks they use in massage.

I would also have to agree with the Pumice stone. It works great! But I'm a cheapo and I bought mine from Sally's Beauty Supply Store and it works just as great as the expensive ones. I also love crystal and glass nail files which is what they used at my local spa.

I also make sure my nails are always the same length or pretty close to the same length. I usually like to put on lotion after washing my hands and dont use as much hand sanitizer as I used to because it dried out my hands

.
I also like to take a week or so out of the month to use just Nail Tek Intensive Therapy or Barielle Nail Rebuilding Protien (clear polishes) and a two time daily maintance (during that week) of Nutra Nail 5-7 Day Nail Growth to help maintain my healthy nails. I also like to use a cuticle remover once every two weeks. But in between that time I just use a cuticle pusher to push back my cuticles when I do my nails. Dont forget the crystal or glass nail file...this helps a bunch. In addition... a buffer brush helps a bunch also...I use that only once-twice a month though.

Well hope that helped a bit.
