A few days ago my friend waxed her face. The next morning her face broke out alot. It is more like bumps rather than acne. what could she do to not irritate it more and make it go away? She already has acne on her face too from before.

Maybe a hydrocortisone cream and some Benadryl.

I broke out once from waxing - it looked awful. Fortunately it did clear up quickly (less than a week.)

I wouldn't wear makeup unless I absolutely had to, and I'd wash it off with something gentle as soon as I got home.

i get that sometimes too when I wax the upper lip or sides...

then i tried using Polysporin and no more pimples. don't put a lot but make sure she puts it on everyday at night for a couple of days.. no more acne.

it works

We actually have a product salons and spas use after waxing to help skin calm and not be red afterwards and some say it keeps the bumps away. It is called Skin Conditioning Oil.

She may want to visit a doctor because although I believe it sounds like she has sensitive skin, she may have had a reaction to the wax. I know people with petro skin reactions. (Means they cannot use minerial oils or petro duraritives in anything that touches the skin.)

I have no idea :wassatt: However, thank God with so many of us on MUT, you did get some good suggestions. :satisfied:

it is weird because she always used this wax and now all the sudden her skin breaks out...thanks for all ure advice...it is very helpful

Hi Tesia, it is a good idea for your friend to apply some t tree oil after waxing as this will keep the area clean and stop any infection.I have always found waxing the face quite tricky and i always get some irritation afterwards.

i mentioned that to her but she told me she has oily skin. She also has very bad acne and does not want to make it worse.

Hi Tesia,

Sorry to hear about your friend's predicament. I trust that this was not done in a salon or spa.

I hope that to help her present acne condition, she isn't taking/applying anything like Accutane, Retin-A or anyone of their generic versions. Waxing while using these meds can cause negative results to the skin. Also waxing shouldn't be done especially if you've exfoliated within the last 24 hours.

There are wax products slated for sensitive skin that she can probably try (should she care to venture down this path again).

N.B. - If you are a diabetic or have asthma, you should not wax at all. Reason being, the pulling of the wax strip is done rather violently and can

a) cause bleeding which isn't good for diabetics due to their poor healing qualities and B) be the catalyst causing an asthmatic to have an attack.
