Just recently, I got the test results back from my dermatologist. The bumps that I thought were serious acne (they just wouldn't go away) turned out to be Syringoma. To add insult to injury, laser surgery is the only possible treatment. I'm thankful that mine isn't as bad as others that the doctor showed me and what i've researched, but the procedure leaves scars. It will leave dark marks in the treated areas.

Does anyone know of any great fading creams, medicines, or natural remedies that will help my face return to normal after I have the surgery? My doctor recommend some but they work best one fairer skinned women (some are like bleaching creams); plus i'm a brownie and would like to stay that way, lol.

Any ideas would help! Thanks

I'm curious how many treatments you will have.

Will your doctor want you applying anything without his/her approval, while you are undergoing treatments?

I have had plastic surgery on my face - had extensive scarring for 6 months or better.

I couldn't apply anything to my face after surgery until the doctor said it was ok, due to risk of infection.

Then it was ok to apply a gently sunscreen only for 6 weeks.

Then I could apply sunscreen and corrective make up after the 6 weeks.

After the 6 months, my face looked great and I have no scarring.

My point is that you you may be better to follow your doctor's recomendations, and to use corrective makeup as soon as you can.

Some plastic surgeons hire a make up artist (or can recommend one) that is qualified to assist patients with scaring to minimize the disfigurement while the patient is healing.

Hope this helps

Thanks. I just came back from a store where the pharmacists just recommended mederma. I'll definitely look into it.

Yes it's a great help.

I'm not sure about the effect on brown skin, but I know that products with alpha hydroxy acids in them lighten and heal scars incredibly well. Look for a cream with at least 10% alpha/beta hydroxy acids in it which is free of all silicones, lanolin, mineral oils, petroleum products, dimethicone, etc. Try to find a product that has the acids in it along with a slew of pure plant oils.

Isomers also makes a product called Retiniacin, which has vitamin a, vitamin b, amongst a whole pile of other things which reduce scarring, smooth the skin, and make the face look better overall. If you email them directly, they will definitely be able to help you as their customer service has always been very good. They even have created certain products in their labs specifically after customers have requested them. They also have a product called Moisture Mask, which is loaded with REAL aloe and which really helps scarring as well. Not all aloe products are created equal. In fact, most are not very good at all. They use the 100x aloe in their products. They are a spectacular skin care company, they ship worldwide, their products are made in Canada and they sell through Shop NBC in the US and The Shopping Channel in Canada. That is where you can often get the best package deals on their products. I have been using them exclusively, other than my own products, for the past 3 years and have never found anything as good as their stuff, anywhere. Their products healed up some of my own skin issues I was having at the time, before I started making my own again. Their website is at http://www.isomers.ca. They are also on Facebook. If you sign up for their newsletter, you get advance notice on their web specials, which are often 3 for 1 and other dirt cheap prices. Their products are meant to be used by all skin types and colors. They are definitely worth checking out.

I have also found that zinc oxide powder, applied directly to sore skin spots/broken skin, will help heal the skin fast and reduce scarring. But you've got to use it immediately, as soon as the skin is broken, and apply at least 2 times a day. Not an option before going out, however, because it is very white and opaque. It's visible even on white skin.

There is a thread that I read about a new, well, new to me, cream that is natural and from Mexico.  It's called Tepezchouite.  You can purchase it from ebay or Amazon. I purchased one from herbs of mexico on ebay that is 4.23oz of pomade.  It's supposed to cure stretchmarks, burns, psoriosis, excema, all sorts of skin conditions, and much much more.  But it is for skin promblems as one of it's main issues it deals with.  Please look it up and get more info on it at wikipedia.  There is so much more to what it does that I think you should read about.  Sorry I can't give you all the info, but I wanted to at least try to point you in a direction that could very well work for you.  We are currently trying it out in our home right now, along with the soap version for my son's terrible acne and my dry skin bumps on my arms and my stretchmarks.  So I hope you look into it more. Hope this helps! PM me if you have more questions and I will do my best to answer them.

Vitamin E oil is great on scarring as well... oh and you'll want to be sure to always use sunscreen - the sun can do a number on scarring.

There is a really great bleaching cream that I have used for years call Black and White bleaching cream and they also have an ointment. The bleaching cream can be found in Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and the ointment you should be able to find in the beauty supply store. The cream is not strong enough to fade your overall skin color it will only fade the dark spots on your skin. Once you first apply it does make you look at little pale but it is a good product and once again it will not make you look 20 shades lighter  or even 2 shades lighter. (lol) The ointment I would use on my legs for mosquito's bites.  When I get a break out that leaves a spot I use the cream until it fades away and then I stop using it. Hope this helps.
