hey girls. i am 20 years old and i am worried about my skin because i never really use any moisturizer/toner/or any serums. the good thing is i wash my face twice a day and i stay out of the sun. is it too late to start taking better care of it or am i going to be aging by the time im 25? the reason im concerned is because i was at the mall today looking for foundation and the woman brought up skin care to me. she tried to sell me 1400 dollars worth of skin care products telling me if i dont use all this stuff my skin will be gone by age 25 or 30 and there will be nothing i can do about it. i thought it was ridiculous to spend this much on products but she kept insisting that it is such a great investment and one of the most important things. i think she was just after the commission though! i didnt end up getting anything but i am now concerned/worried about my skin! am i going to be ok if i start taking care of it now? sorry this is so long..the lady just freaked me out! thanks for any help

I don't think it's ever too late to start caring for your skin....and although I agree that skin care is needed...you don't have to spend mega bux to start..although on some things you get what you pay for...a good sunscreen and cleanser...Neutrogena makes some good ones and a lot like Cetaphil and they aren't that expensive...Check the review boards...they have a lot of products to pick from...

She was just trying to sell you stuff. $1400 worth of products for 20 year old skin is ridiculous. Let me be honest....Until I was 35 years old, I used Dove soap and water on my face and never moisterized. I have very oily skin. I'm 40 now and Not tootin my own horn, but I don't think I look 40. Just stick to the basics. Wash, moisturize if you have dry skin and wear some sunscreen. You'll look beautiful for years.

thanks .. that makes me feel better. i still think the sun is what causes ppl to age the most and i avoid that. ill go down to the store and buy some moisturizer that isnt as expensive...and itll prolly work just as good as the expensive ones. thanx for the help

It's never too late to start taking care of your skin, though I'm sure you'll still look fine at 25 if you are staying out of the sun! However, no need to spend much money, as this thread shows, there are a lot of inexpensive products that work well too!

One thing I would recommend is using an eye cream, I've always heard you should start using an eye cream by age 20 to help prevent early fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes. For the rest of your face, I'm sure any old moisturizer will do the trick, at least for now, since it doesn't sound like you have any real skin problems! (I have very oily, acne-prone skin so you're probably not interested in my acne products! lol Though I will recommend Cetaphil moisturizing cream, that is a great moisturizer for any skin type!)

i agree, she was just trying to get that commision. you don't always have to buy expensive skincare. it's really up to you. you should cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face everyday though, twice a day. regardless of skin type or certain problems. also, it's nice to splurge on skincare at least every now and then. facials weekly or even monthly are a nice treat. eventually you will find certain products that work for you..you might even consider getting a skin consultation at a counter or a derm, just so they can get you on the right track or you could always do some good ole net research, good luck with your skincare hun.

Agree with everyone replies, it is never too late for caring your skin!

Just find your skincare regimen and stick with it once you found it.

It's fine if you don't use toner or moisturizer, if you think your skin doesn't need it, then don't buy it.

Just remember to always wear sunscreen when you go outside because sunlight is the main factor for damaged/aging skin.

I also agree on eye cream; it prevents eye wrinkles if you start using it from now.

Good luck!

One thing I will say is don't let the SA's bully you in to buying something - they use a lot of jargon in the big companies such as Clinique and Clarins etc when the drugstore stuff can be just as good. Like the others have said it's never too late and it's a matter of trial and error for your skin, finding out what works best for you! For something cheap I love Dove Sensitive Cream bar and an Olay moisturiser but I have combination skin and that's what works for me! Good luck!

I think sun screen, face wash and a lotion that has spf would be fine. She was totally out of line! I'm sorry you had to go thru that!

My gosh $1400 skin care!!!! That is insane! Ours is $266 for an entire set that last 6-8 months and reverses the signs of aging...ofcoarse theres ways to get it for less than $200 though and the stuff works. My daughter is 12 and uses it all except the serum, but scare tactics and bulling is not good business ethics. I like my company and I have fun with it and I like helping people. I could not have fun with it if I pressured someone or scared them, that is so sad!

At 20 your skin is still a baby

Do not worry. A sunscreen is good, and the better you take care of yourself now, the better you will look later but that does not mean expensive is the best. Look into what you are using, the love being put into it, what is in it, does it work and how it feels.

There are lots of wonderful recommendations and articles that are hear to help learn more about your skin. Educate yourself.

(I also never buy anything from someone pushy no matter if it is a car or an umbrella

Sorry to hear this happened to you,

Hi jane ..

How are you??

I think it is good to care about your skin and also you have enough time to care more and more

to be honest some of the sellers only want to sell their product to the customers without telling the truth.. and that is what i don't like..

I always get afraid to buy from these expensive shop..

but it is good to buy this items.. to make your skin not dry

and i want to ask about the items for the skin from clinic ??

if it is good or not ??

because i bought the items for the skin care from Paris Gallery ??

sorry it is long
