Okay, I really need help because I can't figure out a good skin care routine for my BF. I don't have dry skin and I don't shave so maybe someone who has experience with this can suggest things?

[*]Dry, sensitive skin. Sometimes flakey.

[*]He has to shave pretty often and his hair is very coarse, it hurts his face when it grows back

[*]He seems to break out when his facial hair is growing back in

[*]He has premature wrinkles, and dark circles, maybe I will get him an eye cream?

[*]Theres some major blackhead problems on the nose area but regular masks seem to be too harsh for his skin.

He's willing to do the routine if he sees results and I've tried several things so far. Garnier's gentle wipes seemed ok and easy for him but he didn't seem happy with them. I just want to help him feel as confident as possible because he's always hiding his beautiful face under his darn hat.

hmm. Here are my suggestions, and best of luck!

1. get him to wash his face with whatever skin care product you like. Personally, the clarins for men range is pretty nice, and it makes your skin pretty smooth. So get him to wash his face with the face wash.

2. Next, get him a hair softening shaving gel. You can get em from pharmacies or anywhere.

3. Then he shaves as per normal

4. Put on aftershave balm and pat dry

5. moisturiser & eye cream

It sounds like a lot for a guy, but if his skin is dry, then you need to make sure his products aren't drying his skin out. The softening gel is sometimes called shaving oil, but if he has really tough hair it might help!

tell us how you go!

ditto !

for the nose, he may try kaolin masks, it's a white clay which is more gentle than green clay, and he won't look like Yoda.

he may also use a toner or a thermal water spray before applying moisturiser.

Thanks omg I didn't even think about how his shaving products might be affecting his skin! Would he benefit from a gentle moisturizer like emu oil or something? He might not like it though. Are there oils that can double as a moisturizer/after shave balm?

I'll definitely give him some of the toner I have which is for all skin types and maybe some kaolin clay mask I don't use.

Wow that really makes sense because don't things that foam/bubble really dry the skin out? Of course!

My husband is in LOVE with these two lines:

Zirh & Anthony Logistics. I think your issues are common for most men, and these lines have regimen packs. Plus, both have VERY manly packaging.

I don't know if I wanna grab those in case he doesn't like them. Aren't they a little pricey? He doesn't really care about packaging lol. After all he used Garnier's wipes that proclaimed their makeup removing powers all over the package.

I'll look them up right now anyway. Thanks.

buy a starter package. then you will know! or you can always go to sephora and have them make you a sample kit for free!

Thanks I have one more question everyone, should he exfoliate? I wonder if shaving takes care of that. Should it be just where he doesnt shave? TIA

I guess that's a personal preference. If his skin is really sensitive then he might want to skip it. Most shaving oils don't double as moisturisers, but they are moisturising. If his skin is REALLY dry, then it won't harm him to use both a shaving oil AND a moisturiser :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

actually, because men shave, they tend to have more clogged pores due to ingrown hairs. so the one thing in almost all the men's lines is either a scrub or a chemical exfoliator.

Should he use an exfoliating mask? I got him to try mario badescu's Kiwi scrub in the mornings but it seemed to irritate his skin. Maybe a gentle exfoliant cleanser?

My boyfriend loves the Zirh products, they work really well and good quality, i tried it one time and i even like it! i know it's a lil pricey b/c i bought some products for him for christmas but at Sephora they have a starters kit that's excellent. Oh yea and about exfoliating, yes even though he has dry skin he still has to exfoliate but just like once a week b/c he does have dry skin

59 dollar starter kit?? yiiikes, we couldn't afford that together. lol. I will try to study ingredients and cosmetic mixing as much as I can...

the Anthony Starter Kit is cheaper, but, as my man likes to tell me, he doesn't spend money on makeup, and all the girlie things i spend money on, so why shouldn't he get at least a quality facial product. yes, my man is semi-metro, but he deserves it.

for a cheaper alternative, i hear the nivea for men is a great line.
