Alrighty...this question goes out to the Canucks on the page...since I will be doing my shopping at shoppers drug mart....Anywho, I need to find some skin care products for my mom. Shes 48 and doesnt really do much to take care of her skin...she just uses whatever i have lying around. I Should mention though, for 48 she looks really good, people cant believe she has a 23 year old daughter. So whats a good place to start...I just want to get her a moisturizer and maybe a face wash, so she can start to take care of her skin. Shes clueless and so am I.

im really just looking for drugstore brands at the moment....Im on the east coast of canada, on a little island....i dont have access to anything else at the moment, other than drugstore brands..But THanks!

Shopper's has alot of options, I sure do miss them now that I'm living in the US.

If she's not used to a routine I would start out simple. Maybe just some Olay Regenerist products. They have the face wash cloths and you might be able to find the half sized sample pack with day and night cream and the eye cream. The Regenerist line contains the peptides that are the new "best" thing in skin care.

I don't recommend Vichy products, I know you can get them at SDM.

Is RoC available in your area? The Retinol Actif Pur Anti-Wrinkle Treatment (night version) is really good. Also, she'll need to add a sunblock to her routine if she's doing any regular retinol use, or even if she doesn't because this is vital in preventing wrinkles and uneven pigmentation. Best drugstore brand I can think of is the Olay Complete Defense Daily UV moisturizer w/ SPF 30 for SENSITIVE skin. Not the regular kind because it doesn't contain the right balance of photostable sunscreens that the sensitive skin version has.

2nd to ROC. This would be a great line for your mom. Also L'Oreal makes some good drugstore products for mature skin.

Cetaphil is an excellent cleanser and moisturizer.Natural ingredients and you can get the generic and its just as good.Have fun.

If I had to recommend 2 things: a micronize bead scrub and a zinc oxide/titanium dioxide spf 15 for everday. The scrub 2-3 times a week, depending on skin type. It really takes the dullness look out, by removing dead cells and stimulating new skin renewal. A 3rd thing, would be a real essential oil/carrier skin nourisher, but this you won't find at the drug store.
