Hello everyone,

I have a simple question... I have a huge collection of body wash, lotions, creams and etc. Every scent I have but sometimes I don't use them so some of them have been hiding in my closet for a while. Do you think they have exp. date? I see nothing on the bottle... same thing with my hand creams (I have a lot from bath and body work)! I am just curious. Should I throw away some or keep them. I take good care of my products!

Usually body lotion have an expiration date of a few years, so so unless it's more than 5years old, maybe you should think about throwing it way. Shower gel and cream have long expiration dates aswell. They have just started putting expiration dtes on cosmetics in Europe since they passed the new law...

They may not have a date, but they can turn. Don't worry, you will know!! Also I've found that the plastic bottles can dry out and get brittle. When you squeeze them, they crack and leak.

usually body lotions have a shelf life of 2 to 3 years. check your products for separation of the ingredients (oil floating on top, etc.). if you find this just toss the product. also, check to scent. if the smell isn't right (and i'm sure you'll know) just toss it.

I agree. if something "turns" i.e. ingredients seperate, funky smell, etc. it's time to toss them. I clean out my stash a few times a year and whatever I haven't used in a while I give to my mom and sister, and they use it up.

you KNOW when something isnt good anymore. smelling, appearance.

but normally its after 2 years or more. lotions maybe 8 months to 1 year.

I agree with the others, it's pretty easy to tell by the smell of appearance, sometimes even the texture.
