I have dark eyebrows and when I fill them in with the correct color, I think they look too heavy and imposing for my face. At the same time, my brows need a little more defining because I don't want to wax anymore. Should I lighten my brows a little, or just use a lighter powder? I feel like that looks odd though. If I get them lightened a little, I might go to a chocolate brown with my hair also.

What do dyed eyebrow hairs look like when they grow out? Will it open up my face? Should I wait until my skin adjusts to a summer palette?

i know the feeling whenever i color mine in i feel it looks too harsh when it's the same color, but my brows are so funny shaped and thin i need to. i cant win!

id say just use a lighter powder, cause if its anything like dying your hair your gonna be a slave to lighting your brows forever since they grow quickly and the roots are way more noticable.

I agree. Just use a slightly lighter powder. I think lightened brows with naturally darker skin tones and hair might look a bit strange.

I lighten mine with sally hansen creme bleach and I just keep wiping it off every minute or so real good with water...to check the color so it doesn't end up too light. I love the way it opens my face up.

I find that it's better to choose a powder or pencil slightly lighter than you need because otherwise it does look too dark. have a really dark pencil, which actually matches the colour of my hair, but the really pale looking 'taupe' pencil by ardell is actually a much better match.

It sounds like a lot less work to buy a new brow pencil than to lighten your eyebrows with bleach :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hmm okay. I guess I was dreaming of looking like Tyra banks. lol. Her brows are much lighter than I would have gone though.

I think I'll go with a dark gray pencil. Brown looks sooo obvious because my hair is naturally so black. If all else fails I'll try bleaching once, I don't mind looking ridiculous when it grows out.

lightening eyebrows is very simple and you dont see it grow out like your hair.

I think you should at least try it. Just do what Maisie does.. I have done it before and when it grew out it didn't look weird. Like AnitaNa says, they don't grow out like your hair.

Okay, so here's two pictures of me with dark eyebrows and two of me with lighter eyebrows. Excuse the tongue ring LOL

Thank you for the pics! It's very subtle, and nice. Now I'm very curious as to how I might look.

If you do it yourself you gotta becareful how long you have it on for, or they'll get really blonde.. i have done that once and it looked okay but in a picture my eyebrows looked sooo blonde. I wish I saved the picture but I deleted it, it would have given you a good laugh. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I can understand your thoughts Momo. My own pair of brows are a good 2 shades darker (think "inky black") than the hair on my head. My husband is the same (anybody know why they call that color tone difference "German Eyebrows"? I mean, hubby is of Scandinavian & German descent, but is it really that common in Germanic people?) It definitely runs in his family, that's for sure!

Anyway, I love it on him, it's very sexy. But on me, it is harsh a little bit. I have tried the bleaching thing, but I don't like that as much as penciling/powdering it in with a faint bit of color (a soft greyish brown to bring definition, and soften the color.)

Would you mind letting em know what greyish brown you use? I haven't seen any color like this (mainly because I haven't thought of it before)

No problem! I use L'Oreal Rich Eyeshadow in Deep Mocha 830. Just a light hand will do your brows fine. It's not so obviously stark brown so it blends into your skin behind the brow hair, but it has just enough hint of grey in it to enhance the illusion of "something there" when you step backwards out from the mirror to see your whole face.

I have black-auburn hair but my hair is naturally black. My brows look gray when they're not filled in so I use a medium to dark taupe color to fill in my brows. It doesn't look as overdone as black, grey or even brown. Somehow warm brown looks too artificial on me. Taupe looks more natural. Hope that helps. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Please do, le_tink! I'm still trying to find a pencil/powder color I like before I try lightening my brows.
