After I use St.Ives 1 minutes Shower Mask and then Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Gel, my nose immediately goes shiny after it drys. But when I touch it, it's clean and not oily at all. What should I do to remove/reduce the shine on my nose?

i have the exact problem. i know that my skin is in great shape, but the shine is almost blinding at times. i just keep blotting! i've tried several oil blockers and oil control lotions and they send my skin into a tizzy! i guess it's better to be a bit shiny than to have blemishes! i'm learning how to live with it and be ok!

this happens to me when I use a mask thats too drying for my skin. maybe thats it?

If it's shiny because its dry/clean try moisturising then powder. If its shiny because of oil, the mask might be to moisturising for your skin. Use an oil control moisturiser, blot and powder.

yesterday the shine was almost unbearable! by 10:30am i looked like i'd smeared my face with vaseline or something. of course it didn't help that the temp was in the 90s and the humidity was off the charts. today i used my old aveeno clear complexion cleanser and didn't use any moisturizer on my forehead, just a small amount on my jawline (my skin tends to be a bit dryer there). my skin looks much less oily today and i've only blotted once and it's almost 11:00am (i have my makeup on by 6:00am). that may be the trick for me. just skip the moisturizer in the daytime. thank goodness my foundation has an spf!

Monnie gave good advice or you might make sure you use an oil free moisturizer and blotting papers are a must have!! Sometimes the shine is just unavoidable! If your skin is clear and not breaking out, I'd just find a way to live with the shine. I also love Mineral Veil for under or over foundation!

I agree with the advice given by everyone. I also had the same problem, and I skipped moisturizer (or only applied lightly) during summer months and that seemed to work in minimizing shine. But I also had oiliness during the winter, which puzzled me. I found out that I was trying so hard not to have oily skin by using a cleanser for oily skin, skimping on moisturizer, and not moisturizing at night-- that my skin began producing more oil (instead of less) to compensate for the dryness. I then started moisturizing at night (a non-oily one, of course) and voila! I woke up with smooth, normal skin, and when I put on my makeup I didn't get oily throughout the day! I don't know if you already moisturize at night after cleansing, or maybe you're using products that are too drying that ur skin is compensating for lack of oil. Maybe you can try switching to less drying cleansers and face products.

Hope this helps!

I don't think it is a good idea to skip the cream, try using one that matifies your skin very well, that regulates sebum excretion and that can be used also as a make-up base. If your have combination skin, there are creams that matifie and hydrate in the same time, or you can use different creams, one for the T-zone and another one for the cheeks. You can also choose a matifying foundation, a powder.

I don't really like products like Nivea or Garnier, they don't have reliable ingredients, I prefer dermatocosmetics.

And you can also take Zinc, it makes your skin less oily.

Zinc is very good for oily skin, acne skin, and Rosacea skin. You have to take it for thirty days to start seeing a difference. It doesn't always work for everyone

If you are one of the luckier ones then it is suggested you stay on it.

if it's not oily, i can bear my shiny nose. but if it's oily, it just means the mask is too harsh for your skin. try using another one, and use an oil control moisturizer. i also love mineral veil.

i also second zinc !

I have heard that before. Does the smell last when applied to the skin?
