Hi people

Can anyone recommend some SERIOUS Moisturisers. I have tried the sort of drugstore ones, Loreal, Benefits Dear John, etc. etc. but have "still" not found one that hydrates and makes my skin feel "truly moisturised"

Can anybody help or guide me?

I have also recently discovered Elizabeth Ardens 8 hour cream, I have to say Im of mixed views. What exactly does it do, what do you guys use it for? It says lips , dry bits, anywhere really but Im not sure of it , and especially the smell.

cheers

Lorraine

well, i had recently tried a really strong over-the-counter acne med on certain areas of my face.. and it literally burned my skin. apparently it was WAY too harsh. it left alot of my face EXTREMELY DRY. i used boscia's recharging night moisture and it worked wonders. i'd recommend it.

This thread should be on Skincare forum.

Sorry I've never used any EA line so I don't know anything about those line.

Currently, I'm using EL line for moisturizer. For day time daywear plus SPF15 and night hydra complete. My skin tends to be a bit dry in winter so I need to use a little bit thick moisturizer.

Hi,

Do you know if that is sold in the Uk. I despare with trying to find a moisturiser that really does moisturise.

thanks

Lorraine

Oh EL is Esteelauder, I'm sure it sold all over the word since it's a giant cosmetics company.

I'm sure there's plenty good skincare line. So before you decide to try ANY skin care line, make sure you brows for reviews first ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />.

I recently started using a moisurizer by Philosophy Skincare called When Hope is Not Enough Replenishing Cream. It is made for very dry skin. I like the scents and it defintely moisturizes. I just switched over because it is getting so cold outside!!!!!

I swear by these two...

Udder Cream

and

Hoof and Mane or Hoof and Tail (I don't remember the exact name)

They have weird names but work really well. My skin gets horribly dry in the winter months.

Hi,

Udder cream was originally used by farmers on cow udders, to keep them from cracking(great for hands and feet). Mane and Tail products were designed for equine usage. I don't think that I would use them on my face!!!

I have dry-dry skin and I pair a face oil with a rich moisturizer for nighttime use. In the US, I can get Burt's Bees Repair Serum and this stuff is incredible at treating dry skin! If it's not available, then search for pure Camellia Oil to pair with your normal nighttime moisturizer.

Also, give Curel Ultra Healing moisturizing lotion a try on your face. I know other people who use this and swear by its ability to keep their skin soft.

i get dry skin and i like my biotherm age fitness day time moisturizer.

I facial moisturizers I would go for either B.Kamins or Boscia. For your body you should definately check out anything that is shea butter based (some people say it feels greasy and others love it). I use Jaqua, Davies Gate, and a bunch of B&BW products (True Blue Spa, Pure Simplicity and Breathe).

Leony I use the EL Hydracomplete as well and really like it. I have the Daywear but can't stand the cucumber scent so I don't use it that often.

I like Prescriptives Super Line Preventor, I use it in the morning before applying makeup, and before bed over a freshly cleaned face.

Just because a cream was formulated for an animal does not, by itself, mean it isn't good for your skin. Anything that can heal a cracked udder has worthy properties.

My mom used to use EA- some of the products were really good, but after about a year or so, she gave up and went back to Lancome. I think their green tea range is supposed to be really good.

What's your skin type? It's hard to find a moisturizer for you without experimenting.

Hi Barbiedalchow,

I have comb. dry skin and found that most moisturizers I used dried my skin out or irritated even more. That's because most contain either alcohol in some form or witch hazel. The only skin care product line I use now is Aubrey Organics out of Florida USA. Check their website..www.aubrey-organics.com. I think they have a place in England not too far from where you are where you can get it. Even though it says %100 vegan and all that other stuff, what's most important is it does not contain any of that other stuff to dry your skin out. If you don't want to go the chemical-free route, however, before I discoved Aubrey, Bobbi Brown makes a Very Good (& Expensive) Vitamin Moisturizer in a small glass jar with a black top. Also Q.M.S.! (you can get it in Spas...also...Expensive) has a fantastic 24 hour moisturizer. OUt of all of these, Aubrey's is the most economical. I have yet to find a resonably priced one that really is good. B. Kamins smelled so full of chemicals...and was way to harsh for my dragon skin.

Which ever moisturizer you use/choose, lightly steam(using a washcloth or actual steamer like I do) your face and add a SMALL drop of either Olive Oil or first cold pressed Soy Oil depending on your complexion to your moisturizer. This will make it more emollient. Just go easy.

Best of luck, and don't give up!

P.S. If you want to p.m. me I have other tips as well, that have nothing to do with commercial products but are other ways to hydrate your skin.

Elisabeth

Elisabeth I would love to hear some of your tips. I also have very dry/dehydrated skin and have tried so many products that just seem to make it worse. I am going to check out that aubry line that you mentioned...sounds like good stuff. :icon_smil
