I have been on the search the last few months for a product that will "calm" down the red irritation that I get on my face after washing it. I want to use it in the morning before applying my makeup. It's like a thousand little red capillaries show up all over my face and it takes an hour or longer for them to disappear.

When I went to the makeup lady at Clarins for a session, she said she barely touched my face and it became irritated. I tried their Gentle touch products, including their skin restoration serum, but no luck.

I'd like some recommendations on any products you have used that have helped with this problem. Thanks!

I know aloe vera cream works really well and fast for red and irritated skin.

I was wondering if the cleanser you are using is irritating your face. I have sensitive face skin that also irritates if you touch it. I find the the RoC Endryial line helps me. They make both a cleanser and moisturizer. It doesn't totally get rid of the irritation but it helps. This line is fragrance free.

i think it can be simply your cleanser, too harsh for your skin. you can use a toner and let it be absorbed by the skin before applying your moisturiser. aloe vera is also great with irritated skins.

My skin does the exact same thing. I can't wash it in the morning because it takes my face way too long to calm down. I absolutely feel your pain.

I haven't had any success with any products yet, but I might give aloe vera a try. Also, I just ordered a kit for ultra sensitive skin by Jurlique, so I'll let you know if that works when I get it.

U can try one of those creamy face washes. That won't really dry out your skin and irritate it.

I find that aloe vera gel or St Ives Eye and Face cucumber gel works really well for me when pimples flare up. That might work for you..

Cetaphyl is good with all skin types.

Baby Dove bar soap should be a gentle cleanser as well.

Don't bother with a toner unless you have really oily skin.

To exfoliate, add a tsp of baking soda to your cleanser, mix, and scrub into skin. Baking soda won't irritate your skin.

Neutrogena has products for sensitive skin. I think they have a sunscreen for sensitive skin.

I have Rosacea so I get red irritated skin. My capillaries stay all the time they have become permanent :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I have tried several things... Aveeno calming face wash, it's ok but not great. Eucerin wash and lotion didn't do anything. BBW Calming soy foam face wash, it helped some. Purpose lotion didn't work. Cetaphil didn't work. Lancome milky face wash for sensitive skin also didn't work. I'm still trying out things, so I think i'm gonna try some of the one's mentioned here. I'm really interested in trying Green Tea products because I love the smell. HTH

The Body Shop has an Aloe Vera skin care line that's supposed to be great for sensitive skin.

Atm the Avene products have helped my skin redness loads!.. the Avene extremely gentle cleanser (I rinse it of) and the thermal spray water is a great skincare combo for sensitive red skin. I also wear a spf 15 daily.

Thanks everyone! Actually, I picked up Mary Kay's Creamy Cleanser (you have to ask your rep for it) and it has really made a difference at night. I've been using Thermafirm from Avon after that, but I'm not an Avon skincare fan, so I'll use it up and then start using my recent purchase of Clarins Night Wear. I did pick up Clarins toner with Chamomile and that is very soothing, but does nothing for the redness.

In the morning, I use MK Timewise for dry skin and it's ok... I'm still looking for my HG. I then use the Clarins Restorative Serum (I'm not as young as most of you!) and Clarins Restorative Day cream (that stuff is to die for). I still have to use BBrown corrector on a few places on my face besides my undereye to block the redness, but I can see an improvement overall.

I'm lucky that I'm not fighting many wrinkles; the redness fight is enough! :eek:ldlad:

I would start with an alcohol free toner.I also recommend BeautiControl Skin Equations Protective Services from the sensitive skin care line.

I have rosacea- that redness battle is no fun at all.

I skip cleanser completely and just use warm water and a very soft microdermabrasion cloth- it cleans well. If I need a little extra "de-gunking" a deep cleansing oil works well.

Lotions with licorice extract, cucumber, witch hazel, green tea, white willow, feverfew, oats, aloe, chamomile- all work pretty well. For some reason Vitamin C seems to calm things down after a few days too.

i like aloe vera but your def using something thats not amazing for your skin if your red after you wash
