It's just so scary! I was never that into natural or all organic, but this is kind of nuts. . . like. . . it could cause some serious issues! :yuck:

Everything in this world is connected to cancer but them alone will not make you have cancer. Unless it's radiation or something like that.

And skin is a strong barrier. Why anti-aging lotions don't work as well as they talk they would? Because they can't penetrate skin. It's the same thing with almost everything that is put on our skins - the mollecules are too big to transpass skin and its keratin layer and other layers.

Unless that you ingest the carcinogens in EXTREMELY HIGH concentrations (that's the way they test it on animals - giving them the pure substance in EXTREMELY high concentrations - think 100x the quantity on a cosmetic - on a daily basis for several days) , the probability of your cancer may be triggered by a cosmetic is virtually minimal.

It's not like tobacco. Ah, and you'll only have cancer if you have the genetics for it - if you don't , you may smoke for 70 years and not have cancer, or use tons of cosmetics and never have cancer. Or , never smoke and have a lung cancer.

Again: you'll only have cancer if you have the genetics for it

it's really scary what's not only in our beauty products. It's part of the reason why I'm switching to natural stuff.

it's interesting. sometimes i wonder if anyone knows what the names in latin and ancient greek mean.

i think we should be careful but you have to know everything synthetic cannot be absorbed easily by the skin, our body is sort of naturally reluctant to absorb these products.

and lia_matos is right, the probability you'll have cancer because of this is minimal.

People don't ever want to hear the things they love are bad for them. Then they make excuses to justify what they want to do.

I do love my makeup. I will NOT stop wearing it but now I have more info on what's bad for me so I can make better choices about what products I DO use.

Cancer Prevention Coalition web site Cosmetics and Personal Care Products Can be Cancer Risks

Campaign For Safe Cosmetics: SafeCosmetics Home look into Skin Deep it has Product health risks by brand and item, even if a company animal tests. Very good info to have the next time you go shopping!

Lia Matos was not making excuses. She was providing additional facts so members of these forums could make informed decisions having heard logical arguments from both sides of the issue.

Hmm, I think a lot of that is scaremongering!

"If I can't pronounce it then it's no good". That's just daft - the latin name for shea butter is Butyrospermum Parkii, i can't pronounce that but i love it.

It's all a matter of personal preference but mine i that natural is not always best. Some of the stuff for sale out there being touted as better for you because it's natural, I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole!!

ITA^^

the only cancer giveing thing that im scared of is tobacco, im a smoker and want to quit because i dont want to have respitory problems or lung cancer, gasping for air is really scary .. other than that i dont worry myself about cancer myths we are all gonna die so im not going to worry about the things i have no control over. thanks for the info anyway
