Salicylic acid

Hi all,

I don't know if anyone else can help me with this, but I have heard some strange things about salicylic acid. I get a lot of little cloggies and I usually extract them myself. After about three or four days, I have bunch of blackheads on my forehead, nose, and chin. I was told to use something with salicylic acid in it to dissolve all of the sebum in the pore, but that I would probably break out at first because my face is purging. Is this true? I started using Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion and my face is breaking out a little bit. My blackheads are coming out very easily, but I am getting some pimples, too. I love the #2 but it is a bit harsh. I am about to give up, but it has only been a few days since I started using the mild one with salicylic acid. Should this stuff make my face purge and then give me gorgeous skin? Help, from anyone, or just experience with salicylic acid and cloggies would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to give it another week before I give up. I am starting to see the breakout calm down a little bit. My biggest issue is giving up before I give it a chance to work. At least that's what the SA told me. She said it could take weeks to finally dissolve all of the stuff that is under my skin. I kind of believe her because I have a ton of bumps that are filled with stuff and they occasionally turn into pimples. My goal is smooth skin, not neccessarily perfect. I know pimples are a part of life and I don't get tons of pimples, I just get all of those little bumps and blackheads.

Anyway, wish me luck.
