A woman wrote in her letter to Alternative Medicine magazine about her rosacea (I have a friend who is struggling with rosacea so I'm always on the lookout for info):
Quote:
I went to a dermatologist... ...
The doctor said no one really knows what causes rosacea and gave me a prescription for antibiotics. As an "alternative medicine" buff , I refused to use the antibiotics and became determined to find out what did cause this skin condition.
My dogmatic search paid off. Clinical studies have discovered the culprit behind rosacea: a parasite called demodex mites. A Google search will take you to the various products that claim to cure you of the parasite, but believe me, it's curable. I had a severe case of rosacea and tried all those remedies you talk about [in the previous month's article]. Those did not work for me. Only ridding the body of the parasites helped. Please share this info with your readers who have rosacea and desperately need this info!
The very first answer on Google included this (my friend has two dogs): Quote:
Demodex canis lives on the domestic dog. And then here is the way it looks on a human: http://www.thepetcenter.com/exa/dem.html#disappeared Quote:

I haven't done more research yet but I see a real clear analogy to the whole medical understanding and treatment of the stomach ulcer thing -- where it turned out many, maybe most, ulcers are caused by a bacteria, not "stress" or bad diet, or genetics... Treat the parasite and the ulcers go away... Could rosacea be the same?
