Back in March I placed my first order with Beautyfix and among the items I purchased was the Nick Chavez Ultra Shine Honey-Peppermint Conditioner ($20, 8 fl. oz.). It took me a few months before I finally got around to using it after my initial use and while I liked it I won't be buying it again. Here's what I originally wrong on March 9, 2012.
I love this conditioner because of the smell and only the smell. It's not the worlds best conditioner and it's hard to get out of the bottle (making the bottle a dud for me) but the smell is divine. It smells like the name says it is honey and peppermint. I found myself playing with my hair after using it just to smell the lingering scent in my hair.
Would I buy it again? Probably not. The bottle design is a huge flaw for me because the container is a very hard plastic to squeeze. I can't stand bottles that I have to fight with to get the product out and this bottle I have to fight with getting the product out.
I did like the smell but my hair didn't feel softer nor did it look more shiny after using it. The scent was very strong and while I loved playing with my hair after using it I just never liked that my hair felt on the dry side. I often would mix it with another conditioner to make my hair softer and a $20 bottle of conditioner I would expect it to make my hair feel soft, luxurious and to be able to comb it easily. I found myself tugging on my hair when I used a wide tooth detangling comb unless I mixed a different conditioner with it.
The complaint I originally had on the bottle still stands, getting the conditioner out as I used more and more was a total pain. After all these months I STILL have a small amount of conditioner in it that I can't get out and I haven't thrown the last of it out because I'm too stubborn so it sits on my bathtub edge next to the other conditioners I use. you can see in the second image (left) that I crushed the bottle in my attempts to get the conditioner out. The conditioner is just much too thick (right) to be put in such a rigid bottle.
As I said I'm too stubborn to throw it out until I use it all up so I'll probably end up adding water to it then mixing the last of it with another conditioner so I can have the scent of the honey-peppermint.
Thankfully I didn't pay $20 for only this item and the $19.99 I paid for the box included other items I did like and use. One thing for sure I'd never buy this again it was a total dud for me.
Disclaimer: Item purchased by me out of my own pocket however I used a promo code that made the box total $19.99. No affiliation or compensation given or implied in this post.
