Removing Dead Skin Layer

I have been using 30% glycolic acid peel from makeupartistschoice for about 2 months now. I am a previous user of other products from them. I have actually used up to a 50% glycolic peel and I used the TCA peel once. I have noticed that even the pH prep solution stings my skin and when I put the glycolic peel on it burns even more. I can't leave it on very long. I used to use a salicylic facial scrub too and was told to stop using that in if I was going to be doing the glycolic peel. It eased the stinging down. However, I only use Oil of Olay cleansing cloths on my face and that is it and the peel still stings.

I want something that gets the rough dead skin cells off my face. I just tried the baking soda + aloe vera gel mixture and that did smooth my skin but is it getting off the dead skin layer? I know there are tons of products out there that do this but it seems the glycolic peel may be too harsh for me now and I am concerned that lactic acid peel just isn't going to do the trick.

Any suggestions???

Hi,

The baking soda is an inexpensive, but effective way to remove dead skin. Also try checking the Homemade Skin Care Recipes and Masks thread for more ideas.

My personal favorite exfoliator is Dermalogica's Skin Prep Scrub. They also make one that can be used on a daily basis know as Daily Microfoliant. Both of these products are non-abrasive.

Hello, I have found that many exfoliants are too harsh for the skin especially scrubs. The dead skin is removed but the new skin underneath can be damaged also causing your skin to over compensate. Your skin will start producing too much oil therefore more spots and skin problems. You are better to use a gentle daily exfoliater - I like the Aveda one which is just like a liquid and is wiped over the skin after cleansing. xxx
