In general speaking I really think the pill is bad for you.A doctor will probably tell you no, but If you realistically think about something that tangles with your insides can't be good. What happens when you stop taking the pill? The acne can come back. Instead of turning to the pill for acne there are other methods to clear up your skin.

The pill has been around since the 60's. There have been countless clinical trials

since then, to determine it's safety and effectiveness. If it were not safe, it would be taken off the market.

The pill is the most reliable form of birth control, short of sterilization.

If you think the pill affects acne, just wait for all the breakouts you will get while pregnant.

I am aware that a few birth control pills have been prescribed to lesson acne.

I agree there are better medications for acne reduction/control than birth control pills.

I went on the pill as a means for birth control and it was by far the best for controlling my acne as well (I was on Ortho- Lo). It also made my periods regular. I have not been on the pill for almost 9 months now and my skin has been on and off chaotic with its breakouts especially near my period with some months are better than others (depending on stress). So I def think the pill has its benefits

i started the pill when i was 16 hoping it would help with my acne and regulate my periods.

i couldnt really see a HUGE improvement in my skin.

it just seemed to gradually get better.

but it wasnt enough of a change for me to credit the pill.

after 4 years i would expect my skin to improve a LITTLE =]

but it did regulate the hell out of my period.

i can time it almost to the hour!

haha.

jk =]

but its very regular and also only lasts a few days [usually 3 or 4]

so thats great.

it did however make me gain 5 pounds almost right away the first time i started taking it.

after about 6 months i stopped for a month and then started again.

also gained another 5 pounds.

i advice is if it IS affecting your weight,

dont stop and start and stop and start.

=]
