I went to a new hair salon where my hair cut was cut with a razor. Does anyone else get there hair cut with a razor? Does this process make your hair more susceptible to damage and split ends?

i know they do use the razor on my hair as well and i havent had any trouble with my hair at all...well besides it not wanting to do what i want it to do....

My hair isn't as thick, so I don't really need to cut my hair with a razor. My friend however gets her hair cut with razor, and she doesn't have any prob with split ends or anything

I've had my hair cut with a razor before, I didn't see a difference in split ends or anything either.

I've had my layers thinned out w/a razor and cut w/scissors. I don't realli think there's any harm .. .almost all of the salons i go to use razors to thin my hair

You can have it razored for thinning as well as for style. It cuts the hair more 'piecey' than the blunted edge you'd get from a scissor. BUT, you want to make sure your stylist knows how to use it, (as well as having a sharp blade) and that your hairstyle would benefit from it. Improper use or dull blades can cause hair damage & can leave 'holes' ----

My hair doesn't do well w/razor cuts (not sure why). The lady who cuts my hair does something called 'point cutting' that seems to do better w/my hair type.

That will give similar results to a razor cut... you're cutting vertically w/ scissors, instead of bluntly across. I like to do this on a lot of the layers cuts I do (or angles) it gives that 'grown in' look.... more piecey... like the way your hair looks a few weeks after a new cut grows out

I can attest to this.

. More than once.

I have been wanted to try my hair cut with a razor and making layers, but I hear that it causes more frizz after showering and that it takes a little more maintenance. Is this true?
