I've had salon glycolic peels & used glycolic products for years & love what it does for my skin! Glycolic peels help fade hyper pigmentation , fine lines, small scars etc. 1 salon peel can cost $50 & upward! I just finished my 3rd at-home peel I purchased fron Sharron of Clinical Basic Skincare & absolutely LOVE this product! Its easy & only takes minutes to use! Sharron has great personal customer service & even called me when I was ready to do my 1st treatmentl! Its also very affordable at $37.50 for 6 peels. I will definitely continue using this product & recommend it to anyone who wants the benefits of a glycolic peel without the high price! Here is a link to the product on her site. I used the 40%, but she also offers a 33%.

Wow thanks! I've always wanted to try one of those since I have sunspots in my face and arms... do you think it could be used on the forearms?

Thanks for the info. I need to try this. I have some fine lines. Can you tell a difference after you've done a few treatments?

Yes it can be used on face, neck, chest & arms etc (you may go through it faster) Its great to help lighten hyper-pigmentation

You can see & feel a difference even after 1st treatment! (I had to force myself to stop touching my face!) My son's tutor saw me & noticed after I did the 1st one & she went right out & got it! But its best to do a series once a week for about 6 (the bottle does about 6) then after you can do them monthly or bi monthly or so.

I still think that people should use a professional clinic to do the peels. Call me old fashioned, but there are out here people who can burn their face off, with a peel, they got off the internet. If you can't afford a Derm, be very careful what you put on your face, to end up worse. word of caution.

Well, for a deeper peel I'd head to a salon or dermie. But glycolic has been out there & used for years. Most spas & dermies are wickedly , ridiculously overpriced. This gal does a personalized skin analysis & very detailed instructions, even a phone call just before i did the 1st treatment. I was quite comfortable with it. For a person who has never used it a good idea to patch test. If instructions are followed it shouldn't be a problem. Most people who have burn got it b/c they didn't follow pre & post peel instructions, or left it on longer than recommended.

Will glycolic acid peels thin the skin in the long run? I thought PCA or Jessner Peels would also work, without the potential side effects of glycolic peels?

In fact, I have read more than once that it triggers production of new collagen & plump up the skin & reduce appearance of fine lines. It is recommended for many skin conditions. I also have eczema & very sensitive skin. I guess it depends on what works best for the individual. I've been using glycolic for many years with no problems at all! I googled & found a few links. All I know is, I love it & it works well for me.
Glycolic acid benefits for the skin. What glycolic acid does for your skin.

Why Glycolic Acid? – The benefits of Glycolic Acid in Skin Care

Just wanted to add this is not a deep chemical peel, such as a TCA peel that is deep, invasive, painful & require downtime to heal. & even a 'burn' from glycolic (& the person I saw that had it the peel was done in a salon & it wa sbecause she had used other treatment products before the peel ) is rather like a bad sunburn, its not going to 'burn your face off' The deep peels should only be done by a professional. Glycolic isn't for everyone, but its benefits are well known. After I did my last peel I immediately applied mineral makeup & went about my day as per usual. Its also important to use lots of sunscreen when using any type of AHAs, even just the washes.

Sounds great. I want to try it now I wanted to do a peel in my arms but I'm a believer in "do it yourself" of course if I know how to do it properly and I know salons are always overpriced so I wasn't sure. Looks like a good idea to try this.
