Hi all,

About 4 months ago I decided to back to my natural color which is chestunt....for years I'd been highlighting it blonde. (Sure now I'm fighting gray hair which is not good for dark hair but that's another story!) I'm so thrilled with the color and the compliments I receive. I get my hair professionally done (now it's been every 6 weeks w/ the dark color) and I've had problems with the color coming out after 2 - 3 weeks......my hairdresser has tried so many ways to get it to stay, it's probably from my hair being stripped so many times for the blonde. Anyway, I've been using Sally's Quantum browns shampoo and then Artec walnut color depositing shampoo (it's supposed to be a shampoo but it doesn't lather or clean just darkens the hair that's why I use Sally's shampoo also). My color has remained the same for 6 weeks now and could stay for a lot longer but I'm wondering how safe it is to be using those shampoos on my hair. I used to use Kerastase shampoo but it still took it out so now I use those shampoos and Kerastase conditioner. Is it ok to use those shampoos everytime I wash which is every 2 or 3 days or am I damaging it? Thanks for any help you provide. :icon_conf

Depending on how light your hair was to start off with.

You could ask your stylist about doing a filler on your ends before your color.

Or your stylist could do permeant color on roots and a deposit only color on your ends. When color processes it lifts the hair then deposits color, you don't need that for your ends. Say 20vol for your roots and 5vol for your ends.

I agree.... & since you've had a history of going lighter, your hair might not be at it's healthiest, so that could effect it as well. Color naturally oxidizes on its own - so it usually will lighten up a bit. But it sounds like you need more than one type of application - like Tiffany mentioned.

Wow! I guess I need to go to Sally more. I wonder if I should use the color depositing shampoo. It really seems like color won't hold to my hair anymore.

Yes, you definitely know "Hair Stuff", I will come to you about hair coloring questions.
