What's the difference between a moisturizing gel and a lotion/cream moisturizer? Which do you guys prefer?

a gel is lighter and used mainly by people with oily skin. i use the lotion on my cheeks since they can get dry and a mattifier on my tzone.

I don't think I've ever seen a gel moisturizer. Do you have examples? - Don't worry I believe you, but I'm just curious!

I prefer to use gels/serums b/c I have super oily skin. There the only thing I've found to calm down oil and shine..regular moisturizers and lotions, even formulated for oily skin is still too much sometimes..

As it was mentioned before, gel moisturizers are mainly for oilier skins, and lotions are for normal to dry skin.

TBS's Tea Tree collection is for oily or acne prone skin, so that is why their moisturizer is a gel rather than a lotion.

and i love it!

many lines will carry the same basic moisturizer in two formulas - cream and gel. derma e, for example, carries their pycnogenol moisturizer in both cream and gel formulas

I prefer cream b/cause my skin is mostly so dry, but I actually also sometimes use a gel around my T-zone.

Not too sure what the difference is, but I believe Retro is right. I have combination skin, and I use Mary Kay Oil Control Lotion twice a day (cream moisturizer), and the Mary Kay Oil-Free Hydrating Gel about 3 times a week. It's a moisturizer w/ a consistency/look of LM Primer. Definitely helps when my face feels really tight.

Agree with everyone, gel moisturizer is for oily/super oily skin.

Lotion is for combo or normal skin type. Cream is for normal to dry skin type.

My skin is changing right now, from oily to normal skin (back to my previous skin type) and I'm currently using lotion type moisturizer.
