I have book ADD, I can't just read one so I have "Death of a Queen","Captain Altriste" and "Game of Thrones" going right now.

What are you reading?

I'm currently reading The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay (excellent) and Empire of Silver by Conn Iggulden (fourth in the Conqueror series-great series and author).

I have book ADD too!  I thought I was alone.  Glad to know it's not just me.  I'm rereading 11/22/63 by Stephen King, it was really good and I'm getting more out of it the second time.  I'd like to find something new and really good, though.  Any suggestions, guys?  I like mysteries, true crime, women's lit, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction, pretty much anything and everything except westerns, I'm a prolific reader.

I've also been reading lately true life stories from Holocaust survivors.  I have never cried so much reading than reading those stories.  They are true survivors and their stories will rip your heart out.  Fictionalized versions like Sarah's Key are interesting to me too, especially when the author takes the time to really research the time period and gets it spot on.

Ever read Regin's Song by David and Leigh Eddings? It came out in 2003. It's a murder mystery with a fantasy twist. Very well written.

I'm rereading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, aaaaannnddd... Frankenstein, Mary Shelley.. yep.. Frankenstein for Halloween, reaquainting myself with it. Think I'll finally sit and do the Harry Potter series next. I never managed to start that set.

I picked up Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and will read that once the semester is over (in addition to this giant A&P text to prepare for next semester.. fortunately we use the same book for both classes)

I'll have to check that out, thanks!  I love the fact that I can get beginnings of books as Kindle samples and then buy it right away if I like it.  But even that feeds into the book ADD because I read a lot of beginnings and am looking for the perfect book to fit my mood.  I have some real books that I bought at library sales so maybe I'll take a look in that pile and see what I find too.  I need to find something that envelops me, a really good read.

For sweetiegirlll, books about strong females I'd recommend: The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, The Help (fave, you'll laugh and cry)Kathryn Stockett, The Hunger Games Trilogy Suzanne Collins, Memoirs of a Geisha(fave of mine!) Arthur Golden, Outlander series Diana Gabaldon(fave and huge books).. there's lots more..but sharing a few for inspiration!

We need a book club type thread, to share faves and misses, reviews and recommendations. That'd be kind of fun! What do you all think?

Definitely! I'd love that!

I am reading The Second Opinion by Michael Palmer. I have read a few books lately but this one is really good. I am completely caught up in it. I keep putting off other things to read it haha.

I'm reading The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan & Elantris by Brandon Sanderson.

Are any of you ladies on Good Reads? (It's how I keep track of books I've read and books I want to read, it's awesome)

I agree, MissLinda! I'd love a book club type thread!

Another great read is "Life and Times of Thunderbolt Kid". It's Bill Bryson's memoirs but it is *hilarious*. I've never had a book make me laugh so hard.
I listened to the audio of Thunderbolt Kid. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes in a few parts. His book, A Walk in the Woods, was excellent also. His buddy, Katz, was a crack up in that one.

Ooh, a topic that I absolutely adore. I have a few things I started on my Kindle, but I'm currently actually reading on a frequent basis a biography of Mary Boleyn by Alison Weir.

I couldn't listen to the audiobook. Too many times I was laughing too hard to see where I was driving. LOL

I started 50 Shades of Grey for a book club (horrible book club choice IMHO). I have been busy and haven't read past Chapter 3 though.

I have been reading this monstrosity for months now.  It's really kind of disheartening to be 350 pages into a book and barely a third of the way through.  With two jobs and 12 units of coursework, though, I'm lucky to have time to read five pages in a week.  :/
