I'm looking for some good products containing Alpha Hydroxy's. What do you use and what do you recommend? I've been looking for products but can't seem to find anything. Any advice or direction is appreciated. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I had never bought an alpha-hydroxy lotion until about 3 weeks ago when I decided that I would give one a try. I decided to try Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion and I suprisingly like it alot. It does make my skin tingle a little when I first put it on, but my skin has looked so much better since I have been using it.

Thank you. I'm going to try Neutrogena. I'm suprised I couldn't find that!! Does it say that it has A.H. right on the bottle? Wow, I feel so dumb. :icon_lol: haha

I was thinking about looking at sephora. So far I've only looked a wal-mart since I do my grocery shopping there. I would like to look for scrubs and lotion.. or anything really.

LOL!! You are too cute! :icon_chee It just says Neutrogena Healthy Skin in big letters and then below that it will say that it contains AHA.

Very true!! I had to search to find something that actually said AHA on the package...they are trying to trick us!! LOL!!

I have heard BHA is better than AHA for oily skin / clogged pores. Anyone know of a product with BHA?

YEs yes, i know the best AHA and BHA products and they are from Paula's Choice. You can order it online. www.paulaschoice.com The BHA and the AHA from paulas choice is stronger than most of the products i use. Check their website.. They give free samples for u to try and also money back gaurauntee if the products dont work. I garauntee that paula's choice products will bring wonder to ur face. I've recommended this to most of my friends and i see great results on their face.

I'm a serious pH eyeballer, and wouldn't use most alpha-hydroxy acid products on the market for this reason. Most don't realize that this detail is every bit as important as the product's percentage. A product can have a glycolic acid percentage of up to 30%, but have a pH of 4 or even higher - a pH most skin scientists agree won't make a true difference in a person's complexion. (Bear in mind that the pH of human skin is 5.5.)

Impressive pH levels when it comes to glycolic acids are not easy to come by, so I have stayed pretty loyal to unbuffered Gly Derm lotions. The one I use is only 10%, but most importantly has a pH of under 2 (pH strips are your best friend!), and does a great job of chemical exfoliation and making the skin look smooth and glowy. It's a great product!

:icon_lol: Hi Island Girl, I have been using AHA's for YEARS and I can tell you that unless you are COMMITTED to ALWAYS being sure to wear a sunblock during the day, EVERYDAY, I would use something not as strong (maybe glucosamine or something for people who can't use ahas/bhas that would still give the antiaging and cell renewal results). The acids thin the skin and cause a constant exfoliation and renewal of the skin cells so you run the risk of getting sunburn with it's sun/skin damage and SUN SPOTS/BLOTCHES AND A LEATHERY LOOK that goes deep! I use a glycolic cleanser and a Vit A (retinol) serum, and vit c serum every day on my face and neck and deccollete. I use an oil free sunblock w a 30 spf. Then put on my make up that has a physical as well as a chemical sunblock in it. My eye cream even has an spf of thirty. I carry a small amount of sunblock with me and if I sweat a lot or it has been hours since I put it on I rub a little in my hand and VERY gently pat it on all over, Do it SO soft and light you don't disturb your makeup. You can touch up with powder or use blotter papers if it is shiny. It sounds like a lot ot hassle but it really isn't and you will be so happy with your skin you won't even care! Try the ones from Paula's choice, Or I also have used Alpha-hydrox from the drugtore and is very reasonable. I also use the Vit A age defying line from serious skin care on hsn. They also have an EXCELLENT glycolic line called glyco youth which I use to keep my skin smooth, my pores reduced and my tone even. They make peels also with the AHAs that correspond to the line. I LOVE my AHAs and BHAS and unless there is something horribly bad with them, I REFUSE to give them up! Natural advantage by Jane Seymour is pure Retinol and supposed to be good and it is buffered so those of you who are new to using the acids will not have a reaction. It really helps rid wrinkles, spots/blotches/acne scars and reduces pore size and since your pores are cleaned out it accepts moisture better so you stay more hydrated. Give the buffered ones a try. There are plenty advertised on this site or on: shop at home, qvc, or hsn. They also have online shopping. Also as I said there are a lot of good drugstore brands: Neutragena, Alpha-Hydrox, Olay, and others. Some Health food stores, and dept. store lines like Clinigue or origins have really nice produts for not too much, Also check the body shop-they carry very nice lines.See if they have samples or testers and ask about refund /return policy, the onlines give you 30-60 days to return for refunds. There are so many good ones out there , you need to find what works for YOU! Good luck and I hope you have as good a success as I and my friends have had! Then just LET them try to pry the bottles from your hands HAHAHAHA :clap Chermarie
