Hi there,

I am having a problem of acne scars on my cheeks. I don’t know which treatment is better for acne scars. I heard the procedure of dermabrasion to remove acne scars. Is it true that dermabrasion procedure will properly removed my acne scars? Anyone suggest?

I would call the office of a reputable cosmetic dermatologist in your area. The receptionist or nurse at the front desk might be able to tell you what kind of treatments that particular clinic offers and what they are used for.

I know lasers, Obagi Blue Peels and some TCA treatments may address that issue. You may find some more info doing Google searches in the meanwhile.

Kojic Acid an organic acid prepared from a Japanese mushroom is highly effective in treatment of hyperpigmentation, freckles and acne scars discolorations. Kojic acid also is consumed widely in the Japanese diet with the belief that it is of benefit to health. The combination of AHA's-Glycolic acid and Kojic acid demonstrate the same result as Glycolic acid and Hydroquinone in hyperpigmentation and reducing pigments in melasma patients. Kojic acid also known as a scavenger of radical oxygen species so it has anti oxidant activity.

Kojic acid a tyrosinase inhibitor that works by competing with DOPA at its receptor site, has the advantage of being pharmaceutically more stable comapre with hydroquinone preparations.

Indeed, it has been shown to significantly enhance neutrophil phagocytosis and lymphocyte proliferation stimulated by phytohemagglutinin. Melanocytes treated with kojic acid become nondendritic with a decreased melanin content.

One of the consequences of adult acne treatment is the resulting acne spots and acne scars discolorations.
