I've been reading through threads, and often hear of people using tea tree oil to spot treat breakouts, etc.

My question is, how do you do this? Do you dilute the tea tree oil before spot treating? Do you simply take a cotton swab/Q-tip and dip it in the pure tea tree oil and then spot treat? Should it be mixed with a moisturizer or something to dilute it, and then applied over the entire face?

I don't have major breakout problems, thankfully, but I do get a pimple here or there, or a tiny cluster if I'm unlucky around that 'time of the month'.

Any advice on how to use it? I have a bottle of 100% pure tea tree oil from Australia--supposedly it's one of the better types to use?

I'd just use a Q-tip and spot treat full strength. If you find that's too harsh try diluting it with something.

technically, you're supposed to use a vegetable oil as a base and add a few drops of essential oil. but for pimples, you can just use a drop with a Q-tip. but be careful of not putting too much as tea tree oil can be harsh and leave a burning feeling.

mine also comes from Australia, i don't know if it's the best, all i can say is it is very effective.

i did this directly on my skin and it burned my skin. i would suggest dilluting it with some aloe if you skin is sensitive. maybe even appling it over moisturizer would help. just a suggestion.

Thanks for the advice, everyone.

haha but it does work on pimples and i use it straight from the bottle

I like to use the tea tree oil from the Body Shop. It's 15%and comes in a little bottle. I put some drops on my finger and apply to the affected area or I put some drops on my face straight from the bottle and rub it in. I wouldn't use 100% pure tea tree on my face
