Alright, so I'm here asking for a few suggestions. Just yesterday a while before going to bed I put a thin layer of Oxy acne spot treatment on/around some trouble areas on my nose. The problem? I woke up to my face burning and red, pretty much all over. Now, I do have sensitive skin but I've used this product for going on a ehh, probably a few months or so and this certainly has never happend in the past, or else I wouldn't still be using it...

I know that the reasoning for this occurence may not be explainable, but really, right now, I'm looking for a way to get the skin around my nose back into shape.

The skin is a bit peely, and there are tiny little red bumps (that are hardly noticeable but are still very much there, and of course, not too sightly.) Guh, and the skin in general has just become really rough.

Soo~ what do you all think? Moisturize? I want to try and refrain from irritating it any more than I already have. Any input would be very much appreciated. <3!

OMG, the same thing happened to me! I went to acne.org and he suggested to put a thick layer of benzoyl peroxide day and night and moisturize. But the moisturizer wasn't enough. After 3 days I was DRY!!!! I was moisturizing every few minutes when I realized how gross my skin was. I don't use it much anymore cause I'm scared of how my face will look again. But what I did apart from the lotion was trying to rub it off so that it won't look like it's peeling. Good luck.

Thick layer? Day and night? I know that if I were to do that my skin'd be in the worst condition possible. I can only imagine how dry you could've gotten.
I suppose I'll just moisturize and see if the area heals up. Thank you~!

once u get used to the BP it wont try u out much anymoe at least thats the case for me. i was thinking aout the same thing u know ~ if it can help renewing skin fast and pervent us from getting clogged pores i woul dimagine putting a tube of it on my face like a mask and then moisturizer a whole lot wold help me from getting acne lol

I'd try putting some aloe vera on it, then a very thin layer of vaseline before going to bed. I bet your face will look totally different in the morning!

I would suggest that you stay off the bpo until your face returns to normal. Use no glycolic acids, cleansing beads, etc., for a few days and moisturize with a non-comedogenic (non-acne causing) moisturizer. BPO should only be used in your pm routine with a buffer first applied to the skin, then the bpo. This you will find will keep your face from getting irritated in the am. Going outdoors with bpo, even with sunscreen on your face, will make you very photosensitve to the sun and might be the cause of your irritation.

@Shar

Yes, I'm definitely not going to be using it for some time. Until my skin has healed up it least. Ha, I'm sure of that.

If you were to recommend a non-comedogenic moisturizer, what would you use? I'm about to leave to the drugstore in awhile to pick up some stuff and would very much like to grab up something that does its job well.

I'm really grateful for the help. And I wasn't aware that the BPO would make my skin extra photosensitive to the sun...and seeing as how it is already rather fair and sensitive..that could've very well been the culprit. Thanks! I'll remember that.

Hi Briocolage

I would suggest that you to to Make-Up Talk reviews and see what reviews are suggesting for great moisturizers. Or go to the Custom Beauty Product Sellers Forum and look at the companies advertising. There are a few that advertise their product line for non-comedogenic (non-acne causing) skin care products. See one that you are interested end e-mail them and they will help you

Thank you for re-directing me~! (totally forgot about the product reviews available here..eh-heh)

sounds like you over dried it.

i would skip it for awhile or just use it as a spot treatment, and use some major moisturizers.

Yeah, I think that's what I did, too. I'll have to pay more attention to how much I use and how often I use it. Thank you for the advice.
After reading some reviews and surfing the internet, I decided on Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion (fragrance free, non-comedogenic). Applied some yesterday evening and woke up to already smoother skin. Red bumps are still present, though not as profound. Peeling is no more and redness is fading. So thanks everyone for the helpful advice.
