I've never been to beauty school but I think without hands on practice it won't mean much. I would think that anything they would tell you could be found in a book or a magazine.
Tuna fish is right about the book and magazine. It's best to go school where the instructors can actually see what and how you're doing (good and bad).
I agree with all the others. Try googling Makeup Aristry schools in your area, if desired, and go from there. I'm wanting to go to MUA school, but we have none in my area, so hopefully I can attend Cosmix School of Makeup Artistry in Ft. Lauderdale. Ever heard of them? Anyways, I wish you the best!

I think you learn more from following a real course instead of online, so you can practice on other people and have the teacher give you advice and critique and show you things.

If it's about the certification then going to a school or attending a workshop(s) where you can interact directly with the instructors is best.

Well sure an online course may give you a piece of paper, but that doesn't mean it translates to real life Makeup Artistry. I think being instructed and doing demonstrations is better and you will still never learn everything. I learned everything on the spot. You can never anticipate what could happen in the Beauty Industry!
Thanks for the replies. I googled make-up artistry and there is nothing in my area. I saw Elite Pro make up artistry learn at home program that claims to be just as good as being in person through the us of DVD instruction and support via online but it's kind of expensive.
I agree w/everyone else. In beauty school our technical grade ( hands on ) was 40% of our grade. It's such an important part of the learning process. I can tell someone over and over again how to do something, but sometimes it takes seeing it done to really make it click. Plus, in school, you can get feedback from instructors right away, and try, try again! And you always got MUT for more questions!

hmm I think I agree with the others also. Without hands on instruction I don't think those online courses would be worth much in terms of how they're percieved by potential employers. Good luck with your training though. Hopefully something will turn up!
What did you ever decide? I too was looking into the online as an option since I'm so far away from any makeup schools. I already have a cosmo license but I would like to take a course in makeup bridal & photography. I think the hands on training would be better unless you arleady have a lot of experience in makeup and are a self learner. The online schools though concern me because how do I know they are who they say they are? Does anybody know angie g ford from hexmakup artistry? hmmm, I can't find anything other then what they say on there site.

Damn this link makeupartistchat.com had a ton of information in regards to that school. But I don't see the page anymore. Anyways, from what I read, please be careful. Pretty much what people were saying was that this sounded like a scam. I was so about to sign up but then it kinda all made sense that it might really be a scam...and I don't have 2k to throw away like that.

ditto! It's about the certification at the end of the course! It's about learning from a trained pro and doing actual faces! Plus a GOOD school is going to be there for you throughout your career!! GO TO A SCHOOL!!!!
if you wanna learn how to do the looks for yourself or friends, just learn here or magazine, but for a pro, go to a school. until i got my certification, i did an online shcool, and they disaprovved it, so i just spent money =(
