Everyone probably has a bottle of olive oil in their home's, or at least most of us. How do you use olive oil in your beauty regime? What do you use it for and what good does it do for skin and hair?

I have a bottle of olive oil and don't know what to use it for other than cooking.

I appreciate your replies and posts

Thanks!

I'm with you! I don't know a thing about it's other uses, but I'd love to hear more.
It seems like a very versatile product, but I did some digging and I found a few threads that may be of help.

Olive Oil Question

Olive Oil

Honey & Olive Oil Hair Mask

There were 211 search results in Hair and Skin Forums, so I picked a few that specifically pointed to Olive Oil in the thread title.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of great responses here, but if you have some time, you might try a search of the Hair and Skin forums. Many posts may be in existence from members who no longer frequent the site and you may find it of value.

Best of luck!!

I believe when mixed to the right ratio with polysorbate 80, you end up with a great cleanser that rinses clean without stripping the skin. Anyway, the woman who does this said she would recommend using at least 10% Polysorbate 80, or you get too much of an oily residue after rinsing.

I sometimes use it to remove makeup(including eye m/u--very effective!w3wsa)before washing with a regular cleanser.

WOW! That's really cool, using olive oil instead of cuticle oil/creme!

Never tried that but sounds good.

BTW, where could I find 10% Polysorbate 80? And isn't it a bit greasy when you use it as a moisturizer? Or do you blot it out, or leave it absorb before using makeup, or what?

I really thank you girls, I benefitted so much! I'll go try it at the ends of my hair.

I use EVOO in my home blended hot oil treatment for my hair 2x month...I also use it in a homemade sugar lemon scrub that I use it the bath/shower for my face (1x week), knees, elbows, feet, and to exfoliate my bikini line and legas a day before I wax/shave

I mix lemon juice, sugar, coconut oil, liquid castile soap, jojoba oil, and a little pure vitamin e oil...its wonderful and keeps everything smooth and soft!!

EVOO is the best...but be careful that its real olive oil...a bunch of companies dilute it seriously...best to buy it from health food stores or whole foods...if you pay a dollar ist probably not real EVOO! I use the slightly cheaper brands for cosmetic stuff ($6) and the more expensive($8-10) to cook with...

I have very dry skin, and I actually use olive oil products from Dr.Perricone, they sell olive oil cleanser and moisturizer which I use for sensitive skin...they also have a few other products containing olive oil. Oh I also use an olive oil lip treatment for my chapped laps. Work great!

I use olive oil in all my cooking, even on bread, so I let the magic of olive work from inside, rather than the other way around, and the benifits are just fabulous...

We use EVOO for cooking, but I also use it as an overnight treatment on my hair. I just put it on my dry hair before bed until my hair looks wet...cover pillow with a towel, it will stain. In the morning, shampoo out & this really brings back the shine to my hair. I have wavy hair, so sometimes I use 2-3 drops in my hand, rub my palms together & distribute thru my wet hair - it works great on calming the frizz, but you have to really be careful not to use too much. I also use it as an allover body moisturizer, which works great, especially on my dry knees & feet! I've heard you can use it to cleanse your face but I haven't tried it, I have combo skin & worry about the oil on my t-zone. Does anybody else use it to cleanse their face & if so, what's the result? Has it made you break out, or made oily parts worse? I did use this once on a white, raised scar I had at the outside corner of my eye and after 2 weeks, the scar was barely visible. I don't know why it worked that way, but it really did, at least for me!

ml, u can us olive oil for alot of things.2 being moisturizer for face and skin.

I use olive oil as a pre-shower conditioner for my skin and hair. I also apply some on my eyebrow area as a conditioner after I arch them.

Wow girls! Thanks really this stuff is very beneficial. Really its great!

I had one other question, this girl in a different board once stated that if you have a teaspoon of evoo twice a day (morn & nite) internally that is, it'll make ur skin thicker, and u won't have to moisturize it externally, does anybody know if this is true or not, and what other effects does evoo have on you when its taken internally?

I appreciate ur time, thank you

I use it on my hair to moisturize. During the winter if my skin is really dry I will also drink a tablespoon a day to help moisturize my skin from within.
