So I have very oily skin and was looking for a makeup primer basically just to smooth so I don't have huge pores. But recently I have seen some vids on youtube about girls blending a light layer of the laxative milk of magnesia on to their skin before their makeup when they have oily skin and it has completely stopped the oil from coming through their makeup. I just wanted to know if anyone has tried this or knows any facts about it whether its safe or not or hear about your experiences and I was also wondering if anyone has done this and put a normal face primer over it like Smashbox's photo finish or L'oreal studio secrets? Thanks!!

I've heard of using Milk of Magnesia as a "clay mask" once a week.

And applying under make up as well.

Always use the regular kind - not cherry or mint.

And always shake really well before applying to the skin.

Milk of Magnesia is only a few dollars a bottle - might be worth a try.

it´s definitely safe. My skin is very oily in the T-zone, and milk of magnesia reduces my oiliness by like 50%, which is more than any mattifying primer could ever do. Apparently Smashbox Anti-Shine primer is basically milk of magnesia in primer formate, which is why I do wanna try it at some point.

It won´t do anything to visually decrease your pore size though, a primer (I like Benefit´s POREfessional best for this purpose!) will do a much better job at filling in your pores and making them look smaller.

I actually learned about using MOM on THIS board! I've been using it for my oily skin under my makeup for about a year now & it works!  I put on a layer, let it dry & pat on more on the oilier parts (nose, chin, forehead).  Plus, you can't beat the price.

I've read about it before but I don't have really oily skin so I've never tried it.  Maybe when it gets really hot in the summer, maybe I'll give it a try.
