Hi there,

I found this site and hoping someone out there can help me. I'm thinking about buying a flat iron for my somewhat course, slightly frizzy hair. I wanted to get one that not only straightens but also is capable of curling in spirals (as well as able to flip up or under). There are so many ceramic flat irons on the market, I'm overwhelmed. I heard the chi is one of the best, but when I did more research the package actually has a warning label about the plug. It's apparently made of lead and the user needs to wash hands if skin contact is ever made. Frankly, that's enough to scare me away. I have a 20 month daughter and my husband and I plan on having at least one more...don't want lead poisoning to be an issue.

My hair is shoulder length and wavy by the way. Turned frizzy and less thick after the birth of my daughter.. I don't know if this information is needed when shopping for a flat iron.

Thank you all in advance for all your help!!

beststraightner out there is a GHD, expensive but worht it. It conditions:icon_lol: the hair so its not bad for ur hair as straigthners are. Use it a certain way and it can do really cool curls aswell:clap. whoeva i dont think spirals.

Welcome to MuT! I'm Janelle from NY - nice to meet you! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> You could look into the T3 - it can straighten and curl.... although it's pretty expensive. :icon_wink

I love my GHDs, they can curl or do flicks, but it takes practice, when i got mine a couple of years ago I could a little leaflets explaining how to do ringlets and things like that. You should always use a heat protector on your hair before straightening, it stop the ends getting too hot and drying out!

Thank you all for the advice and the very nice welcomes to the forum. At the mall out here in California..one of the higher end malls, someone was trying to sell me a corioliss pro flatiron. Has anyone ever heard of that brand? It sold for $150, but I saw it on ebay for much cheaper. It did spirals and straightened, but I didn't buy since I wasn't familiar with that brand. I wasn't able to find any ratings on it either on theinternet.

Hi. I just got the Sedu Ceramic Ionic Tourmaline iron. (Is that enough adjectives for you?) It says in the instructions it can be used for curling and flipping. I haven't tried it out yet though. Mostly I've read excellent reviews on this iron, though of course mere hours after receiving it in the mail, I read an unfavorable review here on MUT. Oh well, hopefully it will work out!

For one, I agree the GHD is great and so is the Paul Mitchell hair straightner.

GHD stands for Great Hair day!

They both are pretty pricey... BUT if you know any one with a cosmetology licence... there's a chance they can get it cheaper!
